In the UK, where 68.2% of the entire population (not just adults or "eligible" persons) is fully vaccinated, 292 people died yesterday (the highest daily number since February 2021). The moving 7-day average of daily new cases has been above 26,000 every day since 6 July 2021.

In all, well over 4,000,000 people in the UK have tested positive since that date and 22,000 have died.

Yeah, but in a more relevant comparison, in NSW they will have 90% of over 16s fully vaccinated in 4 days.

Cases are below 200, 3 deaths per day, hospitalisations continue to fall.

The predicted case spike and overwhelmed health system hasn't happened there and there's no reason to think it will happen here

90% of the Australian population over 16 is about 72% of the total population, so the UK vaccination rate is comparable to NSW (and has been well ahead of it for most of this year).

It plainly isn't vaccination that is making the difference between the UK experience and our own (so far), so what is?

A combination of things.

NSW still requires masks indoors.
Large numbers of UK second doses are 6 months or more old so immunity is waning. Ours are much more recent. Their booster shot program is recently underway, ours is already planned.
They're heading into Winter, we're heading into summer.
We're vaccinating 12 and up, they're doing 16 and up

Once NSW ditches most of their remaining restrictions we'll see.

USA and UK seems to have stopped with there Vaccine Numbers as it seems low while we are getting More and More Still while they have Stalled.

Just hope that means we won't be bad for Deaths like those Countries

Yeah, despite having vaccinations available to anyone who wants them, the USA seems to have crashed headlong into the wall of anti vaxxers.

The next wave is starting in NSW.

Seeing firstly, higher testing results reflecting more people not feeling well and then increases in the number of confirmed cases.

Still, a spike in cases is unsurprising, it's hospitalisations and deaths that are the worry.

Through work I'm aware of 2 unvaccinated adults who were crook for a few days but fully recovered in a couple of weeks, teenagers who had sniffles for a day or 2 and nothing else and a newly diagnosed fully vaccinated adult who has a headache and no sense of smell but is otherwise fine.
