When i attended st bernards the senior college in west essendon had only been built a year or two.
The oval was down to the left of the college down the bottom of a hill next to a creek.
I think there is a road both sides of the school these days but in those days it was a dirt track and the niddrie side was the road to avondale heights.
maybe the snakes are from the what was then bushland and creek for miles to the north of the school.
probably all houses now.
i havent seen the school for 30yrs.
