Nathan Murphy - better mark than Aish
Jack Madgen - taller than Aish and can play on bigger opponents
Tyler Brown - could develop into a better half back than Aish
Caleb Poulter - ditto
Isaac Chugg - ditto
Tom Wilson - developing very nicely as an option at half back
If Aish sees this post he'll probably slash his wrists!

Anyone with time to kill might find this an interesting read. Posters on Bigfooty have done an all time Collingwood FC draft.

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/ ... t.1288790/

11 posters participated and selected players as if via a draft. Resulted in some very fine teams.

Why? What does he offer that makes him somebody we should chase? What position do you see him playing?
Skills. Decent pace and is useful overhead.

Not much of him online from the last 2 years which is a worry. Sure it's hard to break in to a premiership team sometimes but they have had their injuries lately.

He gets mentioned a bit as a DFA pick up and looks like he'd be worth a free shot. My concern is that he while he plays a bit differently to Noble they feel a bit samey.

If it were down to him and the Swans' Ling, I would go the latter. Ling's got great skills but also has pace to burn, even after missing a lot of footy with an ankle issue.

^^ yep, agree with all that. Not seen anything from Naish to rank him ahead of Noble. Even the VFL games where he's getting north of 20 disposals he just doesn't hurt the opposition.

I do see Ling as the player with greater upside. He's largely missed due to injury whereas my read on Naish is he just hasn't been good enough to force his way into the senior team regularly.

Read this this morning; https://www.afl.com.au/news/686801/how- ... -footsteps
Northern Knights defender Darcy Wilmot's love of footy and his love of Collingwood was inspired by his late father Grant
He's expected to go around pick 25ish according to player rankings and phantom drafts. (But so was Jonty Williams).

Interesting and sad story with his father passing away. His Dad played 5 games for Collingwood in 1980 and wore the number 44.
31/12/2003 | 183cm | 75kg

NAB League: 7 games | 15.1 disp | 2.7 marks

Charging off the line with vigour, Wilmot is a pocket rocket when his side forces the turnover. He plays undaunted footy with ball in hand, finding chests by foot and taking on would-be tacklers out of the backline. Wilmot has played good shutdown roles this season as well which adds to his value as a first-round prospect, and clubs will like his upside as a hard-nosed flanker.

Best traits similar to: Lachie Ash

A defender at 183cm isn't exactly what we're looking for, and we're not exactly loaded up on picks in the second round. But what a story it'd be if he found his way here? He's kill for the club. One to keep an eye on anyway.

I certainly think small medium defender is an area we need to target. People suggesting Crisp and Maynard get more midfield time but that doesn't happen unless we have players to take their defensive roles. I'd also like to see IQ given opportunity on a wing but that also is dependent upon finding a replacement defender. Chugg is essentially the only guy we have developing in that role at the moment.

^ I think you are right. We have stacked up on forwards just a few need proving out.
We have Noble as small. Ruscoe as medium and Wilson is a medium but still a bit unknown.
I think Bianco should be used as an attacking half back and we cant fit all the young mids in as mids so Id say a couple might be earmarked as a half back rotating mid.

Well perhaps Darcy Wilmot is a player we might be looking at if the talk about trading back into the early second round is true. Would look good in the #44

It really looks like we are setting ourselves up to buy back into the second round of the 2021 draft. Pick 58 in this years draft currently looks superfluous to our needs and when you add in two or more of our three future third rounders, there’s a bit to offer around.
Lots of opportunities available but we’re definitely not stockpiling 2022 picks to invest in a heap of speculative late selections in the 2022 draft.
Brisbane Lions looks an obvious suitor with Will Ashcroft drawing a very early bid in the 2022 draft.
Hopefully we get a deal done on the night and we have something more to look forward to, shortly after matching the Daicos bid.
