My pony, All Jeed Up returns to the track at Gatton in the last today.... could this be the end of my best 'purple patch' in the last decade?... Hopefully not
How many ponies do you have?!
Should we start a horse-racing thread?

Had a few over the years, 10 winners photos on the wall in The Daicos Bar.
Railway Stakes at Ascot today. The favourite should win, too short for me to back. Looking for value I can't go past Kaptain Kaos.
The Listed Placid Ark stakes I like Willie Pikes ride, Real Danger @ $9.
Son Of A God in the WA Stakea @ $4.
Treasured Star to win the WA Guineas @ $3
A roughie, Cryptic Love @ $31 in The Jungle Mist.
The TAB blocked my account for betting from overseas and said if I want my money I have to present in person. Ironically 4 days after I had a free 25.00 bet which I turned into 125,00.
And the 2 SP bookmakers here were lagged in and they were closed down. Its ridiculous. They raided a house here a few years ago and arrested 20 people, all over 75 , who were in a Bridge club and drinking tea and coffee. Ironically later the month the world bridge titles were to be held at the Bangkok Marriott and they were forced to cancel the event and some 400 hotel rooms were cancelled. The Marriott responded by dropping the discount that was on offer to Thai Police.

That's what I thought!!
But it changes if there are scratchings! And if the weather is bad, there will be lots of scratchings. Then it'll change a lot!
Not good when you put money on a horse at 2.00+ to place, it places, you think you've won well... and then you see you've been given revised odds of 1.30.
OTOH, if you put money on a scratched horse, it gets refunded... So it does make sense. The bookies are not getting away with murder on this one.

There would have to be most of the field scratched to go from a $2 place divvy to a $1.30 divvy.
Yes, there are deductions if horses are scratched. The amount varies, depending on the odds of the scratched horse.
As you say, that's only fair.
DRUMMOND GOLF-KINGSTON TOWN CLASSIC - G1, 3-Y-O & UP
The WFA feature at Ascot this Saturday looks like a forgone conclusion.
Western Empire, the Railway Stakes winner is now an unbackable $1.40.
The 4yo gelding absolutely blitzed them over the mile, the 4 length margin could quite easily have been 6 if Pikey had given him full rein.
The step up to 1800m suits him perfectly, with a victory in the JC Roberts (LR) over the same distance back in March in dominating fashion a good indicator.
This blokes rise to G1 winner has been comparable to Incentivise.
He won a maiden at Bunbury in January and since then, has won; 3 listed races, a Group 3, a Group 2 and last weeks Group 1 event. His only blemish being a 1.6 length 3rd in the Listed Challenge Stakes in February when he raced keenly in the early and middle stages for jockey C. Parnham.
For a bit of value, I'm looking at Kissonallforcheeks ($15/$2.80). The 4yo mare meets him 2kg better than in the Railway and she has got the better of the favourite twice in the 4 times they have met. Having said that, I don't think she will this time.
Western Empire
Kissonallforcheeks
Regal Power
Platoon

Western Empire ($1.35)
Regal Power (7.00)
Kissonallforcheeks (17.00)
Searchin' Roc's (9.00)
Dunno how good his tips are... But if they were too good, sb wouldn't want him, would they?
"WESTERN EMPIRE made the racing world's jaw drop with his Railway rampage two weeks back. He'll have to do it a different way from this draw, ... but ... is still expected to cruise to another arrogant victory. ... 1800m is the big query on KISSONALLFORCHEEKS but she maps for a soft run and just needs to chill out early to record another Group 1 placing. High-quality filly SEARCHIN' ROC'S gets the draw to make the most of her 50kg and 3YOs often hold their own in this. ..."
I don't usually bet on the dogs but there's one running tonight at Warragul that I do follow - Sharnis My Girl.
One of my daughters is Sharnee and I spotted this bitch just over a year ago when I was having a countery at the local, and she got up at good odds.
17 wins from 61 starts is a pretty decent strike rate and she always pays a good divy.
Only a small girl, if she cops a rough start, it's usually all over for her. But left untroubled, she has the pace to boot clear early.
Paying $6 tonight, she's drawn nicely in Box 3 and with the slow starter #9 jumping from the 4 box, I think she'll get away cleanly and prove very hard to catch. #1 the obvious danger.
I Am Superman is my pick in this. $10/$3.25 before final acceptances.
* Any bets placed now are all in. Gets scratched or misses the field, no refund (or deductions K).
The lightly raced 6yo gelding is having his 4th run back from a spell. The Snowden stable have spaced his first 3 runs this prep at 4 week intervals. This is 2 weeks since his last run and the step up in distance suits perfectly.
If Kerrin McEvoy rides him and he draws a decent gate, he'll be $4 when they jump.
