Was being a touch facetious with the Garrett/Madden line..........
More emphasising the heavyweight boxer with a brain and seemingly a vision to contribute positively side of things.
Interesting that his party seems pro-EU as David said, what would have had his brother wearing Soviet Union colours on the world stage on the weekend??
I would've thought that there's something behind that??

Absolutely there'd be something in it, but not necessarily by the boxers. I'd suspect promoters and other interested stakeholders would carry a bit of weight.King Monkey wrote:Was being a touch facetious with the Garrett/Madden line..........

Regarding Madden, he studied teaching and worked as a teacher while playing footy in the early days, then was the president of the AFLPA for a number of years then, while still playing, qualified as an architect. Not really a dunce either.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

As always, geography is crucial to understanding this conflict. The map paints a stark picture of Ukraine's ethnolinguistic divisions.

Even more stark is the correlation between Russian/Ukrainian language regions and political allegience.
A clearly divided country.
Perhaps the powers-that-be got this one wrong, similar to Yugoslavia. Lumping disparate ethnicities and languages together only for the inevitable tensions to arise. Hopefully this can be resolved in a different way to tragedy that ended Yugoslavia.

This is a worry. Let's hope cooler heads prevail.
