absolute madness, pandering to the squeaky wheels. stupidityPies4shaw wrote:Great timing - they’re doing that on the back of a 3-month high, including 80 new Omicron cases. It’s plainly a political decision to stick with their decision, come what may - not a science-based one (no, I’m not making some party-political point: I fully expect Victoria to “show leadership” by holding its course, too). Meanwhile, the UK - despite its libertarian (for which, of course, read anti-science, anti-intellectual) is tightening restrictions as Omicron emerges.

this is the bit i strongly disagree with. its not just hard work and abuse its the risk of getting sick and dying, even if vaccinated. Im assuming you mean restrictions such as for the unvaccinated?stui magpie wrote:
4. I stand by my comment about moving on. The vaccine provides very good protection against serious illness and hospitalisation, even if Omicron is more infectious. We'll keep getting unvaccinated cases in ICU's until we run out of unvaccinated people who haven't been infected. Unfortunately that will mean that the shit show continues for those who work in that setting but that's not a reason to continue restrictions unnecessarily. By this time next year just about everyone will have caught Omicron anyway, regardless of restrictions.
i strongly disagree. you state vaccination provides very good protection against serious illness and hospitalisation, but that Omnicorm is more infectious, that means more sick people, more chance of it mutating again. we need to stop this as much as possible. there is no such thing as a little bit dead.
plenty has been said about what the pandemic is doing to mental health, does the mental health of front line workers not count? there is no end for them at this point, and they risk their mental health and their physical health every shift, and thats before the abuse from dickheads or very afraid people thrown in.
cops and medical front line workers dont grow on trees, thanks to those bullshit riots dressed up as protests front line workers had to take leave for fear of infection, who takes their place? its a never ending cycle, they get time off...to be isolated, then back at it.
we are now free to move around the state, its pretty big, you have mountains, rivers, beaches, cities, country towns, there is something for everyone. help our economy! we are free to jump on a plane and go to a few different states, and even overseas if you want to risk it. YES, IF you are vaccinated. almost 95% of elligible people are, why do the 5% get special treatment when their choice in taking a risk does not just effect them, it effects us all, especially front line workers. dont want the jab? fine, stay within the rules, becuase thats your choice.
i really cannot believe masks are no longer mandatory inside shopping centres, its ludicrous. yes i can choose to wear one, or choose to shop online, what about checkout chicks and shelf packers? Maybe they cannot afford to stay home and they risk the unmasked coughing all over them.
it is not over. we cannot just move on. not if we give a shit about other people and not just ourselves.

By restrictions I mean any restrictions that are no longer necessary. I do give a shit about other people, this isn't about me, we just have a different perspective on it.
The unvaccinated are going to keep catching it, be the bulk of the hospitalisations and deaths, putting pressure on the health workers, until they've all had it and either died or developed a level of immunity, whether they're locked out of society or not.
The whole point of being vaccinated isn't not catching Covid, it's not getting sick or dying from it.

I am a lip reader!!!think positive wrote:/\ Thankyou for all you do. Xxx
No one is moving on from this, they are merely becoming petulant and selfish. You can’t move on from this, ask England, ask Europe. It’s summer here, well every second day anyway!
I satin a meeting tonight and just about passed out from wearing a mask I the hot room, yes they are a pain, but gees I hope the majority of people have the good sense to keep wearing them indoors , god help us if they don’t. Is it really that bad? Try being a lip reader in these times!
This really is the age of entitlement!
Last Friday I was working at the basketball with hearing aid, mask and a headset all on my ears and by the end of the night they were $@&^#!
Like I’ve says plenty of times, nothing stops people wearing them if they’re still scared, but no reason for them to continue to be mandatory

We're not going to stop the spread. Omicron got into country via fully vaccinated people who've been rapidly infecting other fully vaccinated people. Case numbers are about to explode.think positive wrote:its not the whole point stui, its also trying to stop the spread of it.
im not even going to argue eddie, im not scared, im sensible!
ill agree to disagree with you both!

Fingers and toes crossed for you, hope you get there safely and enjoy.
Meantime, Dan has released the unvaccinated to a degree, they're allowed back into non essential retail but not salons and we all have to keep wearing masks.

I can live with that, masks are a PITA, but happy enough to wear one while shopping.
So if you're wandering through Kmart, the unvaccinated should be easy to spot. They'll be the ones with the manky home haircut and eyebrows you could plait.

Same here. Good to see restrictions eased on the unvaccinated, and as much as I would have loved to see masks go, it would have been pretty irresponsible to get rid of them now.stui magpie wrote:^

On a different note, the mandatory vaccination orders for a whole shitpile of workers expire at 11:59pm tonight.
The Premiers office has released this statement today https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/updated- ... rians-safe which cover mainly the changes but is silent on the orders.
This lack of information is poor. What are organisations who had to stand down unvaccinated staff based on the orders do tomorrow? Without orders in place they have no legal basis to continue to stand staff down. I've looked everywhere I can think online and can't find anything. I assume the requirement will continue for at least now but even a frigging media statement would be good so organisations had something to work with.
