And today we have a new Australian record - breaking the 3,000 barrier for the first time. It'll exceed 3,364 (that's the number of just NSW's and Victoria's new cases). NSW set a new State record and recorded more new cases than Victoria for the first time in a while. COVID hospital admissions, ICU admissions and ventilator usage are all up significantly on the numbers a week ago. Indeed, the number on ventilators Australia-wide is up about 40%.

Well, here we go. I'm currently in a train on the way to the city for the first time since march 2020, then a tram to St Kilda for a Xmas lunch. Fkn Myki on phone didn't work so had to buy a ticket.

Might be worth trying one of the star vaccination clinics Dave. Plenty of slots open there.

We did our vaccinations at Star Health in Prahran. Will probably go there again for boosters as GP has no bookings available.

Priceline pharmacies also have bookings available.

While I'm sure everyone is pleased borders are reopening and restrictions have eased prior to Christmas it's seems a bizarre approach now given the arrival of Omicron looks to be yet another game changer.

Can't help but feel our governments and Australians in general are deluding themselves if they think the worst is now behind us.

Hint: The virus doesn't give a shit about us and our desire to get on with life like it once was.
