Interesting that in the last 3 weeks, ICU numbers have doubled while ventilator numbers stay flat.
It would be really helpful if we were able to have demographic information on those in Hospital, ICU's and ventilators.
Stuff like age, vaccination status, what variant do they have would all help get a true picture of impact. Australian Cricketers who have tested positive to Omicron are looking like being available for selection for their various teams once they finish their 7 day isolation period, it wouldn't surprise me to find that the ICU and Ventilator cases are the tail of the unvaccinated Delta infections

I'm shifting toward your opinion on this. It seems that he and other Tennis players didn't go through the ATAGI and AIR process that all the people impacted by mandatory vaccination orders had to follow, but the Victorian Government allowed/supported Tennis Australia in setting up some kind of panel to assess claims for exemptions and the Victorian Government approved the outcomes which, if true, is bullshit. 2 sets of rules and self interest wins again.think positive wrote:He should not get an exemption, end of story.stui magpie wrote:To be fair, Djokovic being granted a medical exemption from getting vaccinated has nothing to do with how virulent Omicron is. The two things aren't related. What'sinaname wrote: Can't be all that dangerous when they hand out exemptions for athletes.

According to scomo's presser he went through exactly the same atagi defined process as everyone else. I'm assuming he was granted an exemption under the clause that he's tested positive in the past 6 months? I'm no fan (he's always struck me as a complete arsehat), but if that's the case, I don't have an issue with his exemption.

If that is the case, that's fair, but under Atagi he can only get a temporary exemption for a maximum of 6 months after having Covid and what I've read suggests a panel and Vic Government intervention.

Either way, he is an arse hat and i hope he crashes out in the first round.

I am Da Man
Yep, TA panel initially, then a Vic Dept of Health panel. Both follow the atagi protocols. I'm sure TA were desperate for him to play, but they'd also be very wary of not following due process. He's always seemed like a shit bloke to me (mind you, I'd put most tennis players in that bucket), but the carry-on and door stamping is amusing. People are dills.stui magpie wrote:If that is the case, that's fair, but under Atagi he can only get a temporary exemption for a maximum of 6 months after having Covid and what I've read suggests a panel and Vic Government intervention.
