Best of luck to her, hope she sails through with no ill effectsLazza wrote:Well folks my 23 year old daughter tested positive and was diagnosed with Covid yesterday. She is in isolation at her house in Melbourne. She sounds alright at the moment but I’m checking up on her regularly by phone. Luckily her fabulous housemates are happy for her to remain in her room and are supporting her food wise. Welcome to 2022 and the continued Covid saga.

Hopefully she is not suffering too bad with COVID symptoms Lazza.
The DB household is currently in quarantine.
The red headed check tested positive on a RAT Tuesday. Queued at Chadstone for 4.5 hours to get a PCR on Wednesday (tried to get a PCR on Tuesday but everything was chockers). Not expecting results to come thru quickly, so we will iso until 7 days is up from RAT..
We are all fine, no symptoms as yet. I am working from home, hubby is on leave until Monday. 24 year old will hopefully be able to access COVID leave for his job at AustPost. Red headed chick is missing casual work - she is working in admin at cardiologist rooms at Cabrini so was being cautious anyway. Fortunately we have a couple of RATs so she can test before she goes back to work.
The only annoying thing so far is not being able to go for a walk.
And online grocery shopping, did first one Wednesday. Used to being able to go get what we need (especially fresh stuff) as we need it.
After xmas we have plenty of essentials - chocolate, wine & gin

Yep, good luck with it and if you run low on Wine and Gin, Dan Murphy's delivers too.
My cousin just messaged me, her Brother who was up in Toc while I was there went home Monday and has tested positive.
Neither mum or I saw him while we were there, mum spent an hour with his mum after he had left but neither of us meet the definition of close contact so I'm not going to do anything. I'll swing past the chemist later after I pick up the ute from the mechanic and see if they have any RATS, just to be safe.

NT done a Lockout meaning the Unvaccinated are in LockdownPies4shaw wrote:By the way, SA has 144 people in hospital - their Premier just said that 92% of them have Omicron.
Unsurprisingly, with almost 80,000 new cases nationally, today - and almost half of those in NSW, NSW has followed Victoria in announcing some additional restrictions.

You don't stop doing what you need to, but if you are at all twitchy, it takes up to 2 weeks after getting the booster before you have max protection.Dave The Man wrote:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-06/ ... /100741026People who are not fully vaccinated can only leave home for three reasons: medical treatment including COVID testing or vaccination; for essential goods and services such as groceries; and to provide care to a vulnerable family member or person who cannot support themselves.
Unvaccinated people cannot travel more than 30 kilometres from their home when leaving for one of the three reasons, unless you are going to hospital.
Unlike previous lockdown rules, unvaccinated people will not be able to leave home to go to work or for exercise, Mr Gunner said.
Police Commissioner Jamie Chalker said the lockout prevented anybody who was not a resident or essential worker from entering an excluded low-vaccination community.

Much longer than I'd normally watch but a good, balanced, data driven appraisal of the situation. No hysteria, no chicken little, quite positive.Pi wrote:been watching this guy lately, he seems less hysterical than mainstream media:

For those interested, this article staistically compares the 2017 Flu seasn in NSW with the current Omicron strain.
https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/coron ... 79becbc751
Flu season runs from April to October.
In 2017 just in NSW,:
494 people died of flu,
9330 people were hospitalised with flu
6539 people were hospitalised with flu as a secondary illness.
The observations are that Omicron acts on fully vaccinated people in similar severity to the flu. 74% of ICU cases admitted in NSW between Dec 16 and Jan 2 were Delta cases.
As Omicron supplants Delta, the Delta ICU tail dies off, and the unvaxxed get their immunity the hard way, expect hospitalisations and deaths to start heading down, likely before the end of January. (my prediction)
