sooooo i have my doubts about someone ...... since you can self report a positive RATs test, what is to stop an anti vaxxer lying to get an immunity exemption?

it does strike me as ironic that all the anti vaxxers i know have a fake certificate

thats the thing, im wondering if he lied so he can get a certificate to work. drove past while he was meant to be locked up, he was out the front with his family. so either way not doing the right thing.

The covidlive.com.au site is presently reporting hospital data Australia-wide as:

- 3,542 people in hospital;

- 325 in ICU; and

- 88 on a ventilator.

Each of those figures has been the subject of a progressive daily increase since 31 December 2021. So, in 10 days, hospitalizations with COVID are up 242%, intensive care is up 254% and the number of people on ventilators is up 215%.

That was a whole 2 days ago.

Today, it's:*

- 4,002 people in hospital;

- 348 in ICU; and

- 102 on a ventilator.

Moreover, the total of 176 deaths in the last 7 days is clearly the highest number of deaths Australia has experienced in any week of the pandemic.

459 people have died in Australia with COVID since the start of December. That's 22.5% of the total deaths in Australia from the start of the pandemic until the end of last Spring. To put that number in context, when the last large numbers of deaths started on or about 11 July 2021, there had been just over 910 deaths, Australia-wide.

Looking at it another way, nearly two-thirds of all COVID deaths in Australia have occured since 11 July 2021. And, of that nearly two-thirds, 1 in every 9 has occurred in the last week.

Anyway, went to the shops this morning. Not quite armageddon yet, local greengrocers had plenty of fresh fruit & vegies. Poultry shop had chicken, some cuts a bit more expensive. Woolies had fresh fruit & vegies, not the full range but not the empty shelves seen in some places. Even had Nurofen on the shelves.

Bought some from Bunnings on the weekend. I think our new close contact rules at work are daily RATs if available and wearing an N95 mask provided to you for 7 days.

I have a near full box of surgical masks I bought in 2020 and a number of pm 2.4 filters that fit in most of my cloth masks so I'm unconcerned.

A couple more weeks and Omicron will burn itself out and we can move on.

Personal view, treat it like a bad flu season and stop the testing except for when someone presents to a GP or Hospital unwell and that testing is purely to advise treatment. If you feel sick, stay home, if you don't, get on with stuff.

Personal view, treat it like a bad flu season and stop the testing except for when someone presents to a GP or Hospital unwell and that testing is purely to advise treatment. If you feel sick, stay home, if you don't, get on with stuff.

You have a Similar View to 1 of my Carer's.

Saying you treat it like a Cold/Flu in Stay home IF Sick. Don't need to be Tested but just stay home when not feeling well.

He also thinks Covid is a Just a Big Joke and it's been used for Controlling People

I don't think Covid is a big joke or been used to control people, it's real and it kills people.

I just think that in a highly vaccinated society like we are, stop wasting resources by making people isolate when they aren't sick. Fully vaccinated people will mostly ride through a dose of Omicron like a head cold, unvaccinated will be in ICU's.

Some evidence suggest that getting Omicron after being fully vaxxed boosts your immunity even higher than the vaccine does, so lets stop piss farting around with bureaucracy.
