Well All Jeed Up got sold for $2000 to Qld trainer Nicole Vuille.
We paid $50k for him as a yearling... ouch.
Being the sucker for punishment that I am, I've contacted Nicole and will be remaining a shareholder of the big fella. They say you're not supposed to get attached to 'em... I can't help myself

I haven't yet ever placed (or even looked at) a quaddie...Skids wrote:... if I can get the last leg of the Ascot quaddie in... I've got; 1, 5, 7 or 11 to get me up.
Dunno even how to place it... Here's how one does it with TAB:

I don't use TAB yet, but I guess it's similar elsewhere...

$2M THE STAR GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS 2YO CLASSIC.
A race where the favourite (Coolangatta) does look the one to beat. ... I think Mishani Spartan (18/1), Bright Blue Sky (25/1) & Golden Artie (25/1) can be around the place.
$2M GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS 3YO GUINEAS.
Very keen on Starman (8/1) in this and have backed him to win. Others in this I like are; Jamea (9/2), King of Sparta (5/1), I Am Lethal (6/1) and Me Me Lagarde (12/1).
$1M IT'S LIVE! IN QUEENSLAND MAGIC MILLIONS SNIPPETS.
Away Game (7/2) for me in this. I'm going for a first 4 with Away game to win, 2,3,4,5 & 14 for second, S2 for third & the FD for 4th. $30 will get you 15% of the divy.
The Listed MISS ANDRETTI STAKES is the feature at Ascot. I'm backing Gemmas Son at 11/1 to win. ...
Yeah, I placed a few bets and almost all lost!! "Big" loss overall. Starman, Away Game, Gemma's Son all lost for me... And Mishani S., Golden Artie & BBS couldn't place.Skids wrote:Not much joy for me today.... ended the day slightly in the red, ...
Starman should be turned into dogfood!!
The fave Coolongatta did win... And IIRC King of Sparta placed...

Yeah, King of Sparta won.
Quaddies are great fun and you can win big with a small investment. One recently paid $108,000 and I had 5%, anice return for $30.
I usually have between 4 & 6 horses in each leg.
Some good news on AJU, the trainer, Nicole Vuille, who purchased him, turns them into show jumpers and other disciplines once their racing days are over.
It's called "Freedom Equine Movement"... you can check them out on facebook.
I also got a few picture messages and a video of the first horse I ever got involved in the other day, Manhattan Jack. He's 18 now and winning trophies in jumping.
I'm glad to say that every horse I've ever been involved in has found a home after their racing days are done.

TBH, I def worry 'bout horse safety in racing. (Not that I don't give a stuff about jockey safety. But at least they have a choice!!)
Anyone who thinks thoroughbreds don't like racing have never been around the animals

Yep, I can def believe they love racing...Skids wrote:...

But dunno that they like being whipped. If folks all reckoned whipping's totally okay, there wouldn't be restrictions on the number of whip strokes. And the horses aren't told that if there's an accident, they'll just be shot before the day's over!!
OTOH jockeys know all the risks... of accidents, bulimia/anorexia, etc.

Same can be said for any animal though K.
Your pet dog could need to be put down due to injury or illness.
My last Bull Terrier, Pete, she had severe kidney failure. I spent a couple of grand trying to save her. She did improve, ever so slightly, but given the option of spending another $10k - $15k for further treatment, with no guarantee of success, we made the heart breaking choice to have her put to sleep instead .
Unfortunately, death is one thing we are all certain of achieving in life.

How does a "first 4 jackpot" work? If your pick gets in the first 4, you get a payout based on the total wagered on this market??Skids wrote:Feature race in Perth today is the Karrakatta Plate for the 2 year olds.
I like one at odds here, Kosta's Crown, paying $18/$4.20.
With a better barrier draw and the extra 100m, he'll give you a great run. Amelias jewel the obvious one to beat.
Race 7, number 7, barrier 7 screams out like a Tim Tszyu body shot.
There's a first 4 jackpot on this race and with the 17 starters, even if the favourite was to win, I can still see a big divvy being payed out. Will be having a few little goes at that.

The 'jackpots' are usually carried over from the previous race. IE: If nobody selects the first four in race 1, that pool of money jackpots to race 2.
If a carryover occurs on the last race of the meeting, the jackpot will be allocated to a future race to be announced by TABtouch.
There are also partial carry overs. These happen when the total of punters % does not equal more than 50% of the pool.
Most times I do a first four, I pick a winner, then multiple selections for 2nd and third & the field for 4th... that might only give me 5-10% of the pay out figure with a $10 wager. If the total number of winners haven't won more than 50%, there'll be a partial jackpot.
IE : If I have the first 4 for 10%, you have it for 10% and P4S has it for 10%, and there's no other winners then 70% of the pool will jackpot.
$10,000 pool - there would be a $7,000 jackpot with us 3 splitting the remainder ($3,000). The official first four dividend would show as $10,000 and we would each collect $1000 (10% of the payout).

Aha... Thanks for the info, Skids...
And about the Karrakatta Plate... I went to put bets on Kostya's Crown for win and place. Tech problems! Couldn't get into my account in time! Couldn't place the bets.
Then... Kostya's Crown runs 4th. (The fave stormed home for victory.)
So saved some money I guess.
