Watching the today shows while I drink my coffee.
And they bring up Bruce, and have an American reporter talking about famous people with conditions and how their being open and honest can help the rest of the world understand conditions, and take away stigma. Such as Farah Fawcett with rectal cancer, Micheal J Fox has done wonders for Parkinson’s disease sufferers, the list is long and important.

Wether Jada Pickett Smith is a cheater, is in an open marriage, shares too much with the public blah blah blah, does not matter. She has a chronic disease which is also common in kids, adults, men woman from all walks of life,

would that joke be acceptable in any other workplace?

Again, I do not condone any kind of violence, but just because Will had the wrong reaction, does not mean that Chris Rocks words were acceptable. They were not. It’s bullying.

It does not matter if he didn’t know. Often you can’t tell what people are going through.

When my mum had a golf ball sized brain tumour she looked like a drunk bag lady, (diagnosis takes awhile) I remember the looksthe week before her operation when she insisted on coming to my daughters inter school swim carnival. Then I watched a documentary on the homeless in the states, and just how many have severe mental health issues, physical or otherwise. I don’t judge people anywhere near as much as I once, ashamedly did.

It’s an awful shame that it happened to be Jada, a women people seem to think is not worthy of empathy. (And I don’t care what her reaction to the slap was either, the vision is from behind, it’s not acceptable in court. Even ifshe laughed it could be nerves; have I covered all the bases yet? Or can you find another but?)

Put yourself, no, put someone you love in her shoes.

Again, I would not expect you to slap them. But would you take a stand?

I damn would.

And once more for the boys as my overly aggressive father would always say, no I do not condone the slap.

Let’s not forget the initial victim. And maybe hold the unfunny comedian accountable too.

Wise words TP.

What I don’t like is the message this type of behaviour sends out, that pure violence is the only way to solve any problem. Wrong. IMO, only fools resort to such attitudes while others can deal with this assertively but peacefully through proper dialogue and relevant conversations. Violence does not have to be the ONLY deal with offensive behaviour.

What if he clench fist punched him and his head hit the floor?

What if it was The Rock instead if Chris Rock?

What if he didnt get up and then mentioned his feelings later in his speech?

What if security/police removed him from the venue? What if it were white cops and Will was being difficult?

What if it were a woman? An older actor like Clint Eastwood? A younger actor? A politician? The what ifs are endless...

tick, tick, tick, tick, BOOM!

Will Smith has resigned from Hollywood’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars ceremony, saying that he “betrayed the trust of the Academy” and will accept “any further consequences”.

In statement released on Friday afternoon, the actor described his actions at the 94th Academy Awards as “shocking, painful, and inexcusable”.

He added: “I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work.”

“So, I am resigning from membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate.”

Her illness isn't life threatening, it doesn't inflict physical pain and her condition is really just one that ultimately causes the same baldness that a lot of men face. I don't see much sympathy ever afforded to them by comedians or the general public.

She's in a privileged position that comes with many benefits, importantly also she's 50 and appears to still have quite a bit of stubble on her head for someone labelled as bald by some in the media.

This isn't a regular Jane at the start of her young life we're talking about and in comparison to say Matt Lucas who also has alopecia (and was completely bald by age 6) she seems to gave gotten off pretty lightly.

As a celebrity used to all sorts of attention and with a joke that was actually pretty mild (Demi still looks pretty hot BTW in GIJ) I don't see much cause for outrage and as Ricky Gervais says "just because someone is offended it doesn't make them right".
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!

And if she’s on a knifes edge already?

More than a few celebrities have suicided.

No I don’t know that, neither do you, or does Chris rock

Maybe instead of taking person jabs he should learn some real jokes.

I have met more than a few men who are touchy about going bald!

Cheap shots, cheap laughs, cheap humour, rubbish comedian, rubbish actor!

Will Smith slaps someone for offending his wife, booo hiss, wipe him off the face of the earth

De Goey punches someone over a bottle of wine , all hail the king!

10 year ban! I’d boycott the Oscar winning movies but I always hate them anyway!

Meanwhile let all the sleazy raping directors and producers in, can’t wait to hear next years so called humour! And no I won’t be watching!
