There's probably nothing more he can achieve. Will be remembered as one of the greatest ever players.

If you lined up his achievements and stats, I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the top 5 of the greatest players of all time.

3 x Premiership
3 x Norm Smith
Brownlow Medallist.

Is he in the top 5 at Richmond? He's been good in a weakened 18-team competition but I doubt he'd get in ahead of Bartlett, Hart, Dyer, Bourke or Clay. He's certainly not top 5 all-time in the competition. Frankly, I'm not sure where he might have got a game in the good Richmond teams of the late 60s and early 70s. Barrott was twice as good - though seldom fit - so, he wouldn't have played the centre unless Barrott wasn't right - and then there's the small question of getting a game ahead of Barrott's back-up (Ian Stewart), there was no spot on a wing, you couldn't even consider picking him ahead of Bartlett, so he'd have to sneak in on a half-forward flank. He might have made that spot his own after Roger Dean retired, I suppose.

He is better than all of those player listed.

They were all good players in a weak VFL era where standout athletes looked good as 95% of the players were plodders who earned a living doing something else. Football was a recreation for them. It was equivalent to VFL standard (or even worse) today.

So, when you say "all time", what you mean is "amongst current players, playing as full-time professionals and under modern fitness and training regimes"?

Martin has dominated a competition of elite athletes. The players you listed dominated a competition made up of social players.

That would be a "yes", then, I guess. Thus, your claim that Martin is one of the best of "all-time" is just an unedifying assertion that he's one of the better players of very recent times - and, of course, when training methods evolve and Martin is not "elite" (whatever that means) by comparison with emerging future-current players, he would fade back into mediocrity. It's not even worth bothering with such a conversation, really.
