Ten years seems excessive to me, but I’m not totally sure what an appropriate punishment would have been. I definitely think it would have been a misstep to take his award away, so I’m glad they didn’t do that.

^ I agree. The slap doesn't make his acting performance any worse.

I think we'd be here all day if we tried to list worse actions than Smith's that various film cast and crew members have committed. The point is that he did it at the Academy Awards ceremony and has been disinvited from that particular space, as I'm sure Gooding Jr also would have been if he had done this there. If you steal a bottle of coke from your corner shop, you might be banned from there, whereas a white collar criminal who embezzled millions somewhere else won't be. As it is, Gooding Jr has faced criminal charges and Smith hasn't.

Think about it like Nick's: nobody here cares if a Nick's poster has an extensive criminal record or has a habit of making offensive comments on Facebook, and we have no policies in place to respond to such things. But if you support Carlton, you'll be banned for life. We're not saying that supporting Carlton is worse than armed robbery (necessarily… ;)), but just that these are the rules of this particular space and that's what we're in a position to enforce.

In his younger years, before he hooked up with Don King and got messed up, he was supernatural. He would have beaten any heavyweight from past eras in his prime with the possible exception of George Foreman.

A man has been arrested after tackling comedian Dave Chappelle on stage during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

Key points:
The incident comes a month after Will Smith walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock over a joke during the Oscars
Rock was at Chappelle's show and said jokingly after the tackle: "Was that WIll Smith?"
The attacker was seen being loaded into an ambulance after the show
The man ran onto the stage at the show and tackled Chappelle to the ground, before being set upon by security

No indication yet as to motive, but some media have speculated by noting that Chappelle isn't overly popular with the Trans community over comments he's reportedly made.

Another example of someone being upset over comments and deciding to take physical retribution?
