For the parents sake I hope that’s true, sacrificing children....I just can’t go there

But you have to wonder, that many cops standing there listening to the %$^%$ fire his gun. 21 kill shots. Surely not?

I haven’t paid much attention, it’s an unfortunate reality that American mass shootings just seem so constant they don’t always capture the attention.

But listening to one of the officials on the news tonight it seems they were acting under the false impression he’d already killed everyone in the classroom before they arrived?

The teacher had locked the door to the next classroom so he couldn't get in, but the Cops didn't know that.

Apparently they thought he had barricaded himself in the one classroom and had already killed everyone there.

What the hell do you do when you've got a shooter in a school? You can't have troops running in spraying bullets everywhere . If he's barricaded in one room, you could at least send people in to make sure he stays contained.

It's a shit show no matter what. :(

You do what Ted Cruz suggests. One locked door into the school guarded by armed police and then have teachers with guns.

Problem solved before it becomes a problem.

It's dangerous to leave doors unlocked. Much better to lock doors than take assault weapons from the general population.

Yes, a 24-karat genius. Why not arm the students while they’re at it?

Crazy talk! And this is the response gun advocates will give you. Laws will only take guns away from law abiding citizens, not felons, and this example will be given to support the 2A.
This is why we need the 2nd amendment!' West Virginia mystery woman is hailed as a hero for using legally-owned pistol to kill criminal armed with an AR-15-style rifle at a graduation party a day after Uvalde school shooting

So let's say at a (presumably wildly inflated) estimate, 50% of attempted gun massacres are stopped by gun-wielding civilians and 50% happen anyway. Is that a better outcome than making it harder for would-be shooters to get guns in the first place?

I'm going to take a wild guess that the statistics aren't on your side here.

^ Don't worry about it - honest, hard-working Republicans will be able to protect themselves with guns; it's only namby-pamby-soft Democrats dying by gun violence. It's Darwinism's finest hour. And, in any event, they're all actually just "false flag" attacks approved by the Democratic Deep State to try to take our weapons from us. Don't you worry about that (says the Member for Kingaroy).

^in all seriousness though, the focus on banning the AR-15 style of rifle wont make this problem go away as handguns and shotguns are used in three-quarters of mass shootings in the US.

Interesting to look at mass shooting pre and post the 10 year Federal Assault Weapon Ban. Questions need to be asked, why the huge surge in mass shooting over the last 10-15 years. What role does 24/7 MSM, social media, encouraging expression, over-medicating kids. Sure, blame the gun, but we need to look deeper into what's causing these shootings.

The thing is, every country has mental health issues, disenfranchised and/or bullied young people, every other thing that can contribute to people wanting to kill themselves and/or others.

The difference is, availability of guns.

The USA is the only country that has more guns than people and are runaway leader in gun deaths.

The thing is everyone starts life as a law abiding citizen until the day comes some no longer are.

Who that person will be I do not know, on what day they will lose their mind I can not say, at what location is still to be known but when that day comes and they wish to harm others I'd rather they reach for a readily available baseball bat or knife rather than an assault rifle or semi automatic handgun.

Death may still be the result but death on the scale witnessed in America is unlikely.
