Deep into the last quarter in game 346, his dummy on the wing made the 2 Melbourne players look talentless and set up Crisp's sealer. His pass to WHE before the Henry mark and goal earlier in the 4th was magical, also.

The only reason he isn't recognised as the single greatest AFL player of all time is because there is so little difference between his best games and his "worst" games - his magnificence is just taken entirely for granted, week in and week out.

He's now 20th on the all-time list of most games played. In fact, he's the only Collingwood player in the top 50 (Tony Shaw is 60th and Gordon Coventry is 73rd).

Apologies if it’s been posted elsewhere but it was only a game of two ago when he became only the fourth player to reach 9000 possessions / disposals.
I can’t remember who else was part of that club but obviously it’s rarified air.
One for the stats nuffies to post the order of merit with that exclusive club.

^ Probably worth referencing the 9,000 disposals thread here: viewtopic.php?t=90527

Jezza posted the top 5, at that time (obviously, Pendlebury has now moved up to 9,055):
Jezza wrote:Most disposals:

Robert Harvey = 9,656 (av. 25.21)
Brent Harvey = 9,213 (av. 21.33)
Kevin Bartlett = 9,151 (av. 22.76)
Scott Pendlebury = 9,015 (av. 26.13)
Gary Ablett Jr = 8,896 (av. 24.92)
It's also worth adding that Pendlebury is the only player in the top 30 who averages/averaged at least 26 disposals per game.

^ No worries.

Barring injury, he will pass Bartlett this year and move into third all-time (he is just 96 career-disposals behind Bartlett, now) and is a good chance to go past Brent Harvey into outright second (he needs 158 more disposals to catch Brent Harvey - 20 disposals a game would see Scott get there in the home and away).

Mason Cox 100 games. Will he make it?

Post by Presti35 »

Big Mase currently sits on 83 games, with 8 games left in the season.

I must admit, if this question was asked 12 months ago, I would have had my doubts. But there's now a glimmer of hope he can reach the milestone, especially if he plays the 8 remaining games and finals.

He made his debut at 25 and is now 31 with 17 games to go, can he get there?

I think that Cox will.

He will hit his contract trigger and we will need his unique skills set (if one includes height as a skill set) moving forward.

We would then have
Grundy- Ruck/Forward
Cox- Ruck/Forward
Cameron- Ruck/ Forward

The Pies could do a lot worse than to really drill Grundy in forward craft over the summer- If we could average 2.5-3 goals out of two rucks per game it would be a huge bonus.

Both Cameron and Cox seem to have an appetite for kicking goals.

Yes, but not at Collingwood.

I think he is dropped when Grundy gets back into the team and he'll request a trade at season's end rather than be relegated to VFL.

Being under contract, we'll get a late 2nd, 3rd round for him

If his last month is anything to go by then, yes, he easily makes a 100+ games.

Since the eye surgery and getting this chance, he has improved his game immensely.
His last 4 games averages; 11 disposals, 5 marks, 15 hit outs, 2 tackles & 0.5 goals (could have easily been a goal a game).
The big fellas confidence is back and even if he isn't taking those marks every time, the follow up work has been exceptional. I like what he's been showing.
