I agree - worries me that it is only very scant sources I am hearing this from. I wonder if Adelaide are warming to keeping him and or Collingwood are chasing the McStay angle. (Almost typed McKay - i wish)
Fogarty is a better age profile for Collingwood too, 22 gives him more time to grow with the team.

Very true, also everything coming from the player says he is happy in Brisbane. Managers job to get the best contract for the player. My senses (and it is only a hunch) I think he stays at Brisbane..they will blink and offer him say 4 years with a trigger for 5th.

Leave McStay alone, I can't see how he would improve our team.
Krueger is the tall forward we need / have, love how he attacks the contest, and will work well next season with Checkers.
Once Grundy back in the ruck, Cameron is another tall forward option we have, good mark, good kick for goal.
But I have liked a faster leading forward coming out of the square - Elliott and De Goey switching it up with time in the middle.
So if we are to lose De Goey, then I think the player we should look at is Zurhaar. And you would have to think in a team with better delivery he would improve.

Manassa is on the 50m, fakes the handball. He's going to shoot for goal, and he's put it through! HE'S PUT IT THROUGH. By golly what an individual effort. Thats got to be the GOAL OF THE CENTURY.

Thankfully we have Grandmaster Wright managing this.Pies2016 wrote:The connection between McStay and DeGoey is that if he was to leave and we were to commit to McStay, then we automatically forfeit our rights to any free agency compensation ( which would be a decent first round pick )
Personally, if a counterbid for JDG emerges, I'd roll with the compensation pick as opposed to compromising it with a potential forfeit if the McStay grab was to eventuate.
The prospect of having two high first rounders is compelling, and who knows, in a game of hypotheticals, maybe the prospect of rolling two first rounders into a top 5 pick presents the most optimal outcome.

And regarding the rumor of a 5 yr offer, how the %$^ would the media know?
Did Wrighty give them a call & tell them? More b.s re- Collingwood
But don’t blame the media
Its like you read my mind. The other thing to consider is if DeGoey does go and we decide against McStay or visa versa, we would have plenty salary cap space to fill with another quality player. Yes, it would be a trade but we would also have plenty of currency to trade with.
