I understand Carlton is set to appeal the two match ban upheld at the AFL tribunal for Patrick Cripps.

The Blues will fight to free the captain once again at a hearing set for 6pm tomorrow (Thursday) night.
Saw this on the news too.

They just refuse to believe their players do anything wrong.

Take the punishment and move on. If they're good enough they'll win one of the final 2 and play in finals. With or without Cripps.

There desperate they won’t beat the Dees so at least trying to downgrade to have him available for the last game. Somehow they will hold on. Reckon the Hawks might beat the dogs.

Well if it it was us Id do the same. Appeal and fight it. If it meant we could either make or miss the finals why not. As to whether or not he should get off? No Fn way. Seriously. How the hell can it be either downgraded or wiped out is beyond me. If its wiped or downgraded that there is a very dangerous precedent.

Yep, with both Cloke and Rocca in 2002 and 2003 I think. Would be interesting to see the full list of appeal cases over the past 25 years and get a sense of how many have been successful.

Didn’t Barry Hall take matters to court and had the case adjourned which meant that he played in a GF?

Yeah we appealed the Jason Cloke decision after he ‘accidentally’ broke someone’s jaw via a swinging fist, I have no doubt it was accidental but he was never any hope of getting off that, the Rocca one hurt because there wasn’t much in it and the opposition player was not hurt iirc and he was arguably our most important player.

Not many I think... can't find too much.

In May 2014, Melbourne midfielder Jack Viney was sent straight to the tribunal following a bump which resulted in Adelaide forward Tom Lynch breaking his jaw.
Viney was found guilty of rough conduct by the tribunal, and suspended for two matches, after it was ruled that he had alternate options rather than elect to bump Lynch. Melbourne subsequently appealed the suspension, which was overturned, making it just the second time since 2005 that an appeal against the AFL Tribunal's ruling was overruled
