Agree .. it’s an unappealing game plan to watch. I’ll also add it’s a horrible stadium for a twilight matchdoriswilgus wrote:They also play a bloody awful game to watch. It’s just flooding, flooding, flooding, and scrum after scrum. It’s not good to watch.Jezza wrote:Sydney’s defensive structures are elite. They’re a serious chance for the premiership.
Post Match. Swans end Pies' run. All comments.

Whatever the driver (being tagged, flu during the week etc) we simply had too many blokes not contribute enough. Hard for the forwards with not much action up their end.
Purely from a numerical perspective, Ginni was our 5th best and played half a game. Cal Brown 7th and played a half a game. We’re not a good enough team to win with such narrow contribution. 8 of the bottom 9 ranked players were pies and included Lipinski, Quaynor, Checkers, Elliot, McReery went at half their season’s average. Don’t intend to be too critical - there was plenty of effort and they have been up for a while. Just have to find a way to be able to get guys into the game if they’re quiet.
Thought Josh Daicos and Cameron were good, and Pendles our best.
Agree with other posters it is a shit ground.
Some on here a bit too critical of Cal Brown. He wasn’t the reason we lost. You can see he doesn’t have confidence by foot, but I thought he actually went alright getting the ball. He may well be in his last month or two at the club - not sure what is in store for him.
A loss was coming and I don’t think that was an embarrassing one. Plenty of improvement. Perhaps Henry and McRae come in next week for Ginni and Brown?

I don't know, I'd be happy going in to finals having played a couple of tough games in the lead up especially with the bye, makes us finals hardened.Piesnchess wrote:I still reckon this seasons fixture was utter shit for us, in more ways than one. Like, forget the earlier games, how the hell can a side, Geelong, get such easy pesy last two games of the season, a side that made a Prelim last season, while we just missed the spoon, and finished second bottom, and get two very hard matches to end the year ?? By all rights, we should have played the Suns this week, and the handbag Cats should have played the Swans today, on the SCG. ?? AFL honchos do us no favours, ever. Ever.
When we meet the Cats in Week 1, how long will it be since they've been challenged? Add in the week off which has been screwing them for years, they'll be ripe for the picking and we'll be match hardened.

Fair go .. he was the medical sub and the game was all but gone when he came in. I actually thought he was alright when he came on … energetic and purposeful.slangman wrote:Our 11 win streak was bookended by by games that Callum Brown was selected in.
Sorry, but he is not anywhere near the standard that a team vying for a top 4 spot can afford to play.
It is very frustrating when you sense a loss coming at the selection table.
If you need to blame anyone for the loss he should be the last on the list.

Thank you, not good either as can be a 3 week injury, be an interesting call this week given we do have the bye the week after so could give him 3 weeks easily.Marvelos wrote:Hammy, don’t think it’s too bad.eddiesmith wrote:Missed the game thanks to a couple of arsonists on the loose, what happened to Ginni?
The SCG has always been an unacceptable ground to play on only takes a short kick out of the Center and you are having a shot for goal
Is a shit ground
No room to move
And sick of these bandwagoners Sydney has
And they have an AFL hand outs feel about them
I’ll say Henry has to come in for Ginny
Carmichael for JDG

How can you talk about the fixture with the preface, forget the earlier games.Piesnchess wrote:I still reckon this seasons fixture was utter shit for us, in more ways than one. Anyway, Carlton finished 13th last year, WCE finished 9th so Geelong have a tougher Round 23 game based on last years finish.

Scans tomorrow, but he'll be touch and go for the first week of finals. You typically need 21 days recovery. If we play our first final on a Sunday, he could play, but any earlier and he probably wont playeddiesmith wrote:Thank you, not good either as can be a 3 week injury, be an interesting call this week given we do have the bye the week after so could give him 3 weeks easily.Marvelos wrote:Hammy, don’t think it’s too bad.eddiesmith wrote:Missed the game thanks to a couple of arsonists on the loose, what happened to Ginni?
