I've loved Sidey since he arrived at our club. One of our true greats. Luckily he still has a couple of years in him I reckon. Well done champ.

Surprised to read in this article that Steele has signed for a further 2 years. Good for him and based on his form this year it’s probably a good move. Hopefully he’s not more than $400,000 per season to help ease our salary cap problems?

Been a good year for Steele after a drop off in the covid years.

287 games and counting. That's a great return for him and the club.

The man of steele

Post by Damien »

Has easily earned himself another year’s contract. Playing like a 20 year old. Has reinvented the old fashioned wingman, who just stays out in the space on the outer side and when it comes out there he is there. Such a smart footballer, whose smarts compensate for the drop off of pace and reaction time, which claims every footballer his age. 300 games for Steele Sidebottom next year will be well deserved. If he was taking the spot of a young guy I’d be the first to call him out but he’s had his best season for several years. A Collingwood legend in the making.

Agree. Has been great this finals series and season to be honest.
Hope he gets another crack at a flag.

He already has a 3-year deal to 2025. Don’t worry about it. He remains our second-best player and since he’s always been as slow as a coach, he’s not going to drop off as he loses pace, like most do. With a bit of luck, given his extraordinary fitness and, as tonight’s final quarter showed, mental strength, he’s a fair chance of being the first AFL player to reach 500 games. He could yet be the first 45 year old wingman in the AFL.

There have been so many brilliant memories from this season, but one of them will be the resurrection of Steele Sidebottom after he looked almost cooked in the last few. He was huge today and did a lot of keep us alight when the flame was burning low.

Would have loved Adams today to take some of the heat off Sidey. He was big in the second half when we made our comeback

Totally, he was old school hardcore today. Shattered for him and SP.

His second half of 2022 was instrumental in our general resurgence.
