Hawthorn should probably stop referring to themselves as the "Family Club"

It is a disturbing read, but I agree with slangman. The version of events we're reading is from disgruntled ex-partners of the players involved. How are we to know if the players weren't using the club to help extract them from toxic relationships (that they may have cited as the reason for their football shortcomings)?
Not condoning the actions, just saying that it must've been a pretty bad situation for the club to become involved like this. It's not commonplace for football clubs to involve themselves in the personal affairs of their employees unless there are underlying circumstances.
Still, our "do better" report pales into insignificance compared to this.

I find your lack of faith disturbing
If it was said in jest, like we do when players are having babies during finals and we say they should get the snip/be celibate, maybe. But given the report, and the formal complaints then and now, not likely jest at all. There’s also cultural sensitivity with the indigenous players. There’s more to the report that’s not being made public.

Yeah, just like they were bagging Collingwood for the Stephenson trade, but didn't have the guts to report on the real reasons he was traded out.Mr Miyagi wrote:Name and shame those in the media who knew about this but didn’t say boo when they dragged Collingwood through the mud.

Paper bag was allegedly exchanged for one hotel not to take it to media or police. Club paid for damages and they were happy with that, to be fair. But yeah, media knew and the other stuff but didn’t say boo. With the Hawthorn report, they would look incredibly hypocritical if they don’t go hard like they did with Collingwood’s issues. And they are from what we’re seeing. Some are still waiting for more detail or investigation, which is understandable given the legal ramifications.tbaker wrote:Yeah, just like they were bagging Collingwood for the Stephenson trade, but didn't have the guts to report on the real reasons he was traded out.Mr Miyagi wrote:Name and shame those in the media who knew about this but didn’t say boo when they dragged Collingwood through the mud.

ITS Clarko and Fagan, main allegations, and maybe Kennett, who was Prez during all this stuff.
