It's OK because we'll have De Goey and Mitchell roving whenever Grundy taps it to his feet.

^I think thats the key thing for mine. The Grundy trade is bold but we just dont need the three ruckman. Grundy is not worth a million a season for the 20% better player he is than Cameron (Cox is actually a better contested Mark than Grundy but is our second ruckman). He was our best and most important player when he signed, but that is far from the case now.

Getting that 700K back enables a hard big bodied in an under midfielder (Mitchell) which is much more important to the team than a 20% on our ruckman.

I dont like how its played out but its brave and the right call!

^ What if Cox goes down injured for weeks, or Cameron, we are left with one green kid, Begg, who got smashed in four games this season, far from ready. THATS why I want to retain Grundy, plus he really does not want too leave.

^ With 40 players per team, can we really afford to keep 4 ruckman on the list. That's 10% of the list for one position.

I think this is why the Pies are into Frampton- full back and back up ruck.

Kreuger can be a stop-gap ruck as well.

I would prefer Grundy stayed a Pie- I imagine he will be cherry ripe for 2023 whoever he rolls out for.

And McStay (I'm trying to look at the positives) can pinch hit in the ruck.

Have to run that risk. No list has 3 afl ready ruckman. Cameron goes down Cox number 1 ruck and pinch hit from McStay / Franga or you blood the kid.

^ I wonder if any fans spoke to him, and told him they hoped he stays a Magpie at that function. Conversley, did any approach Graham Wright and told HIM that we dont want to lose Grundy, and tell the Deees to get rooted, I hope so.

Given that Grundy is now all but gone, I think we can safely say we will have pick 13 in our back pocket at some point ( Dees don’t have a first rounder ) And I think for that reason, we shouldn’t be in a hurry to expect the deal to be done until closer to the end of the trade period. Dees and Freo will need to get the Jackson deal finalised before we can go to work on the finer points of the Grundy trade.
Picks 13, 16, something around 20 ( ? ) for Henry, 42, 47 and 49 is a ridiculously flexible draft hand to do a lot of damage with, both during the trade period and on draft night.

You’d think that some of those picks in the 40’s may well get up traded as parts of deals re Henry and possible Grundy (varying with what we get in return: may even be three way / four way deals) I agree with ur view that it is likely to occur towards the end of the trading period. Time to bring in Jonah Hill or Peter Brand.
