I think Brodie is his own unique self that I don’t think the glove is ever going to fit on the team for Brodie, he is different and we want to embrace his difference but at some stage you have got to put one of the fingers in the glove, maybe two to connect in.

If these comments weren't exactly a foreshadowing of the position we now find ourselves in 12 months later they could certainly be viewed as more significant than they were at the time of the interview.

While the size of his salary is certainly a factor in our decision making perhaps McRae simply doesn't feel Grundy ever made the connection he was hoping to see.

Reports are saying there’s a strong chance we could end up with Norths future second rounder ( likely around #20 odd ) as the main component of the Grundy trade. That pick has just gone to Freo and it seems will be moved onto the Dees as part of the Jackson trade.
Given we’re going to lose from this trade, Norths second round future might be the “ best of a bad situation “ outcome. We could then possibly trade it on for a very late 2022 first rounder because next years draft holds better currency than this year. We MAY yet end up with a very late 2022 first rounder from this debacle. You just need to find someone who wants to tango with you.

Buckle up everyone - looking more and more like a mid second rounder for Grundy. Dees have just done a pick swap with Port which gets them #27. Feels like that’s what we’re gonna get for Grundy.

If so, hope it at least happens quickly so that we can move on with our plans and not be stuck waiting for the Jackson trade at the last minute.

Also hope it means that we aren’t paying the full $300k which has been spoken about…

Also - thanks to swoop42 for posting those earlier comments from the coach about Grundy way back late last year. I think McRae has a ruthless streak and maybe they decided early on that this change had to be made and not just for salary cap reasons…

Says it all really, hard to disagree with that, if Grundy would not cone yo the party. He seems like a really nice genuine guy, but lacking that angry streak. Sad to see him go
