Article from 2021 when McRae was newly appointed.
While the size of his salary is certainly a factor in our decision making perhaps McRae simply doesn't feel Grundy ever made the connection he was hoping to see.
Article from 2021 when McRae was newly appointed.
McRae, who coached the two players and other stars when he was a development coach at the club, said he was keen to resume working with Grundy on how to better connect with the group and turn hitout dominance into clearances and midfield dominance
If these comments weren't exactly a foreshadowing of the position we now find ourselves in 12 months later they could certainly be viewed as more significant than they were at the time of the interview.“I think the thing with Brodie, and I said it to him when I got here, there’s the team on one hand and then on the other hand is the glove. I think Brodie is his own unique self that I don’t think the glove is ever going to fit on the team for Brodie, he is different and we want to embrace his difference but at some stage you have got to put one of the fingers in the glove, maybe two to connect in.
“I think Brodie is at that stage of his footy career where we need him to be more than a good preparer [and] maybe good at hitouts. We need him to connect and if he is connecting in the group, hopefully we get more connection in the hitouts.”

He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!
Reports are saying there’s a strong chance we could end up with Norths future second rounder ( likely around #20 odd ) as the main component of the Grundy trade. That pick has just gone to Freo and it seems will be moved onto the Dees as part of the Jackson trade.
Given we’re going to lose from this trade, Norths second round future might be the “ best of a bad situation “ outcome. We could then possibly trade it on for a very late 2022 first rounder because next years draft holds better currency than this year. We MAY yet end up with a very late 2022 first rounder from this debacle. You just need to find someone who wants to tango with you.

No, he's just an impulsive person who doesn't stop to think about what he posts, and usually posts falsehoods or half-truths.think positive wrote:i can never figure out if nice90 is a troll ala hiss, or, well, something else!
He's increasingly made this board unreadable for other posters.

gee looking back on those comments , it really does suggest we are happy to get rid of him for a combination of 1) his salary, 2) his "unique individualness" and 3) his pure ability to hit the ball where he should in the ruckswoop42 wrote:https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/i-know-the-process-of-winning-mcrae-challenges-pies-stars-to-drive-success-20210903-p58ogj.html

Buckle up everyone - looking more and more like a mid second rounder for Grundy. Dees have just done a pick swap with Port which gets them #27. Feels like that’s what we’re gonna get for Grundy.
If so, hope it at least happens quickly so that we can move on with our plans and not be stuck waiting for the Jackson trade at the last minute.
Also hope it means that we aren’t paying the full $300k which has been spoken about…
Also - thanks to swoop42 for posting those earlier comments from the coach about Grundy way back late last year. I think McRae has a ruthless streak and maybe they decided early on that this change had to be made and not just for salary cap reasons…

Says it all really, hard to disagree with that, if Grundy would not cone yo the party. He seems like a really nice genuine guy, but lacking that angry streak. Sad to see him goMAY-Z wrote:gee looking back on those comments , it really does suggest we are happy to get rid of him for a combination of 1) his salary, 2) his "unique individualness" and 3) his pure ability to hit the ball where he should in the ruckswoop42 wrote:https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/i-know-the-process-of-winning-mcrae-challenges-pies-stars-to-drive-success-20210903-p58ogj.html

A month or so ago I would’ve agreed with you (and I still think it’s unders)Damien wrote:Pick 27? Not enough I reckon.
But the more you hear and read the more it seems just how desperate we are to get rid of him, and we have been for a while it seems
And don’t forget with us offering to pays a stack of his salary there ended up only being 1 other club interested in him, that probably says a bit too
