Is that how it really is? Haven't seen any reports to that nature.
Might be, we'll never ever know, all we can do is speculate which gets us nowhere.
Done with talking about this trade now.
Moving on to Mitchell and not bending over for Geelong.
The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.

There is a rumour of this all over twitter that we will pay it all off next year. In time for the free agency window, a few decent fish in the water.
Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy.

If this is true then it really is a good deal for us, would mean almost an extra $1m in next years cap, the club must really have someone in mind to try and hit up

But how could we have any money left? The Grundy apologists have told us it’s all been spent on McStay…

^ at the end of the day, does it make any difference whether the payment to Grundy occurs in one year or is spread over multiple years? If we weren't paying the 650k in one year, then we'd be front loading some other big contracts (e.g. JDG's) so that we're exhausting our full cap allowance each year...
I find your lack of faith disturbing

By god people talk shite, as if they'd be different when they no way in hell would be.

It's very different at, say, Geelong, because the parameters wouldn't be as irrational to start with, and the psychology wouldn't become fixed accordingly. It's a classic original sin problem.

.
It’s very simple, you either have a team first let’s win a premiership mentality or you want it all for yourself.

I look at the NRL and my mighty Sharks. 5 very good players all off contract next year, instead of demanding market value they’ve got together and are sharing the money amongst the group because they want to win premierships together.

Team mentality v Selfish Grundy mentality.

Grundy's manager, and possibly Brodie himself, were certainly greedy back in 2020 when they held out for such a massive contract. However, they were obviously encouraged to do so by the incompetence of our list manager and footy department at that time, who rolled over and agreed. This sorry outcome is the outcome of the unprofessionalism of our club 2 yrs ago. Luckily, it seems that Wright has certainly righted our ship and such stupidity should never happen again.

Exactly rude
It isn’t Grundy fault at all nor his management
Players only get paid what clubs are willing to pay them
This was a decision made via egos namely our former president (who I actually respect loads) but this time he got it massively wrong
Remember all the media saying Grundy would go back to SA and we couldn’t keep him ?
This is why he got the deal he did
Wright has done what needs to be done (forget about the players name could have been any player) in correcting our cap
If you can have cap space free when big fish become available then your a chance in times past we haven’t had the cash when needed

I just don't get all the the love for Wright. (Mind you, I loved him as a player). He has given away Grundy for SFA and, it appears, spent the salary cap savings on a C grade forward.
And it looks like he's about to get reamed by Geelong over Henry. Mind you, that might not be his fault. That may be down to the people who failed to do their due diligence when they recruited the kid initially.
Side by side.

Well he did put the finishing touches on the Hawthorn 3-peat team.

You were around back then yeah? Every day it was talk here about how we had to be more like Hawthorn. How we had to be more ruthless and make the hard calls on our list. "Player x wouldn't even get on the Hawthorn list with a kick like that", since their gameplan at the time relied on precision foot passing

Looks like that's what we are seeing now here at the pies. Hopefully without the family planning advice of course. But this is what ruthless looks like. If Luke Hodge could be traded, then everyone is tradeable.

Nah, it's essentially the end of the world, no comfort available, go out and party hard as it might be your last.

I heard there was a bit of pleading to stay very recently.

The threat to keep him was never a thing and only brewed up in the media, I suspect to make us look like we bent over in the end. The clubs had agreed to the major parts of this trade some time back.
