You know what though - I've been saying for years that Lyon bowls way too fast for a spinner; not enough loop and drift.stui magpie wrote:Him and Murphy seem to have swapped bodies this testpiedys wrote:
Just goes to show what a total pie-thrower Lyon actually is.
Murphy seems to have developed this bad habit as well.
India are just taking the piss now.
McDonald might be the worst coach we've had since that pox Neilsen.lazzadesilva wrote:Agree that we need a new Coach but also a specialist spin coach from the countries mentioned above who can teach basic concepts of using your feet to get close to the pitch of the ball, and other stuff like watching the ball from the bowler’s hand.
Also a good psychologist to help prepare their minds for the tasks required. Otherwise they will never win regularly against the likes of India and Pakistan.
Langer was a genius compared to McDonald; why did the players revolt?
And here we are because Lehmenn got sacked because of cockhead Warner.
Yes broLazza - remember footwork from the crease?
These bloke are anchored to the chalk like frightened children afraid of the boogeyman!
It's pathetic to watch isn't it? Poke, poke, miss, poke again, miss, cue *edge/LBW with failed review....

Changes for the third ?
Renshaw out. Green in.
If Warner is still injured, Head to open. Selectors probably won't mind if the Test veteran remains on the injury list. Saves them the embarrassment of having to drop him.
Starc and Haz ready, but there's only room for 2 quicks, if Green comes in.
Kuhnemann out.
Possible.
Head or Warner
Khawaja
Labu
Smith
Handscomb
Green
Carey
Starc
Cummins
Lyon
Murphy
Thoughts ?

"Australia coach Andrew McDonald has revealed Hazlewood is heading home to continue his rehabilitation from an Achilles complaint that has sidelined him from the first two Tests.Donny wrote:Starc and Haz ready
Hazlewood has been ramping up his bowling at training in recent weeks but hasn’t been able to shake the injury and will instead continue his recovery at home in Sydney."

Gotta say it was pretty fkn stupid selection taking 3 injured players on tour.
Green, Starc and Hoff should have stayed home, instead take Nesser and another all rounder. Marsh, Stoinis or that other WA allrounder.
The lack of balance in the bowling attack cost us in letting their tail wag, and our batting against very good spin on a doctored pitch, was reprehensible compared to how India batted.
Rather than pre-empt plans, I read during the week about how a bloke like Border played on the sub continent. It was about defence first and let the pitch be your teacher, learn what it's doing and what shots to use and which to put away. With a pitch with variable bounce and not a lot of sideways movement relying on horizontal bat shots is suicide.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

News: Warner out of the last 2 Tests.
Do they bring Harris over to open with Khawaja ? Or use Head. Please, not Renshaw.

Lazza, sadly we don't. We should. Every country should produce wickets that are fair to bowlers. Pace, spin, swing, I don't care. Flat decks are an existential threat to the game.lazzadesilva wrote:...we set up green, bouncy wickets in Perth and Brissy when India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan etc tour. Cuts both ways. Watching the way the Indians play spin compared to the Aussies is embarrassing. Chalk and Cheese. ...
Instead we produce shameful dead pitches for all comers. Look at the crap every year at the SCG. Not even S. Africa could lose there. S. Africa who had a world record 46 Tests in a row without a draw before that Test (for 23 wins, 23 losses).
Adelaide are trying to steal the New Year's Test from Sydney. Sydney deserve to lose it! (But prolly won't.) They should make the Sydney Test a pink-ball night Test.
There was nothing wrong with the Delhi pitch. e.g. Look at Axar's innings. Nothing wrong with the Nagpur pitch either. India made 400 on that! How can it be "bad" for batters?? It's just bad for obese flat-track bullies, etc. They get found out.
Journos have said it and they're right. India don't want to produce dustbowl pitches. 'Cos if it's a dustbowl shootout Oz might win. India want to produce pitches that give just enough for spinners to be dangerous. Then they just sit around and watch hopeless FTBs' defective techniques destroyed.

'... the surface in Nagpur has been handed an “average” rating from the ICC and its match referee, Zimbabwe’s Andy Pycroft.
The strip for the second Test in Delhi, where Australia pushed India for two days before falling in a heap on the third, was also given an “average” rating by Pycroft, meaning that the surface was deemed fair if not perfect.
Those ratings ... also factored in how India were able to accumulate a first innings of 400 on the Nagpur strip, either side of Australia’s two modest tallies.'

There have been 124 Tests played in Australia this century. There have been 103 results and just 21 draws. That is, 1 in every 6 Tests in Australia this century was a draw.K wrote:(Australia) produce shameful dead pitches for all comers.
....
There was nothing wrong with the Delhi pitch.
There have been 105 Tests played in India this century. There have been 76 results and 27 draws. That is, more than 1 in every 4 Tests in India this century was a draw.
In England, it's about 1 in 5 Tests have been draws (29 from 149). In NZ, its 25 draws from 90 Tests (so even worse than India, although wash-outs probably play more of a role in NZ). In Pakistan (and the UAE), it's 21 draws from 77 Tests. In South Africa. it's 28 draws from 106 Tests. In Sri Lanka, it's 29 draws from 103 Tests.
So, the true position is actually that there are results in about 5 of every 6 Tests in Australia, about 4 of every 5 Tests in England - and in other major countries it's about 3 results (or less) in every 4.
This century, visiting Test teams have managed a victory worse than every second year in India (just 11 victories in 22 and a bit years). India at home has a win/loss ratio of 5.909 but away can't even break even (win/loss ratio 0.862). That is, India is about 7 times as likely to win at home as it is to win away.
