Interesting game, in the sense of showing what our rivals have prepared during the offseason. Richmond have prepared nothing new, and are embedded in the chaos and knock the ball forward at all costs mentality that won them three premierships. Carlton are very much wedded to a control-the-flow style game with precision kicking and marking, and then exploiting their pair of star tall forwards McKay and Curnow.
Lynch is Richmonds lynchpin...he saved them from defeat tonight.
Martin looked threatening in the first half, but faded out in the second half.
Summary: richmond have not added very much to what they had last year.
Carlton looked improved in their ability at times to control the game.
Overall, I would say that Carlton has made more progress than Richmond in the offseason.
