Could be a good draft.

Ryan looks AFL firsts.
Should I say it.... 200+ gamer, who will make a name for himself in the B&W.

Allan
Laconic like Pendles, doesn't look like he is as involved but his possession count says otherwise. That goal was the second time I've seen him ooze elite skill.

I reckon he has another level, maybe needs another pre-season. Like Ryan, I reckon surrounded by better players, he would shine at a higher level.

The way Pendles is going Ed Allen might retire before Pendles hangs up his boots :D

So we get another 10 years of two Pendles in the mids lol. He looks more like Mundy to me, but its very hard to tell so early, there's prob a number of attributes he hasn't displayed yet, given how little footy he's played even in juniors last year.

The noticeable attribute he has shown is his decision making, clearly has football nous. During the past two VFL games he really took the bull by the horns in several telling passages of play.
194cm and 84kg, he'll fill out to Pendles / Bont size over the next 3 or so years (his old man played at 83kg), so we need to get a few of Rudey's dim sims into him.
All in all, he looms as a modern day utility or centre / midfielder.

The list management team will have a bit on over the next 12 months with other midfielders designate in Tom Wilson (out of contract 2023), Finlay Macrae (another #19 pick (out of contract 2024) and Reef McInnes (out of contract 2024).

Allan is signed until 2026 so that'll keep those sand-gropers away from him for a time, but Freo would have to also be asking the question in time, given his father was their inagural Captain.
By that stage we'll certainly know if we've found a Pendles replacement from our incumbents.

But who'd want to leave Fly / Disneyland?

We'd be stiff for one of those not to emerge as that rare 9.085% of players that go on to become a 150+ game / 10 year player.

Pendles could be the first AFL player to play games with his own Son.

I get the feeling Allan will debut on ANZAC day. Once in the side, he will never play another VFL game. I suspect he'll have a similar impact as Nick Daicos. We have been crying out for a genuine big bodied classy midfielder, and he fits the bill.

He's the exact type of player we will never use as sub IMO. He needs game time more than probably any young player in the whole team bar maybe Steene.

I'd say no chance (not that he doesn't debut on Anzac day), because of the limited footy he played in juniors last season and the position he plays. As we have seen with Sheezel this year, it's way easier to come into a team and play well running free off half back even as a first year. A raw 18 year old with limited junior game time isn't going to majorly impact the side in midfield, and he also isn't going to get much mid time unless we get injuries. Macrae will get first look over him, unless we think Allan can come in and maybe play half forward or something to possibly replace WHE. Haven't really seen him play that role though.

He definitely seems to have the talent to be playing AFL level right away though.

I'm not in Melb so I have no idea what's going on at VFL level. How's Allan been tracking in the twos?
