At no stage in the first 3 terms did I feel we were anywhere good enough consistently to win
Hats off to all the players
Giving votes today was the hardest week I can remember in a long time
Unspoken hero’s like Frampton McCreery, Mitchell, Crisp all had seriously big last terms along with the brothers Daicos
Can anyone tell me did Peter D father several other sons outside of his marriage and do they qualify for father son status !!
As mentioned previously Darcy Moore speech at the end was seriously spine tingling. He a thoughtful young man who represents everything good about our club

Wow, pretty amazing comment to post to everyone on the thread.Born to Pie wrote:READ YOUR COMMENTS DURING THE GAME - You people are retarded, you blame the coach and the players DURING a game and then celebrate a win. It's not over until it's over FFS. Call yourselves supporters, BS.
Anyway, everyone has their own way of dealing with adversity.
Even if you are a pessimist, you are still allowed to celebrate euphorically when your worst nightmares turn out to be false.

At the start of the last quarter there was little to suggest we would overcome that lead.... except for the brave, fiighting Magpie spirit.

Tend to agree ( perhaps not as strongly ) but it’s a “ supporters “ right, I guess. Lucky the players don’t have the same attitudes or we would never win a close one.Born to Pie wrote:READ YOUR COMMENTS DURING THE GAME - You people are retarded, you blame the coach and the players DURING a game and then celebrate a win. Any way to watch the last qtr without Kayo? Final two minutes aren’t up on AFL either. I need to relive that, on way home from the G

The players don't have the same attitude because they are professional athletes.
Supporters are not "retarded" because they lose their cool.

I think there was a bit of rope of dope coming into the last quarter. They got back into it ( late ) in the third quarter when Frampton was off for a rest. Johnson was understandably outclassed as a relief ruckman and gave away a free to Draper who converted to add more pain. The Bombers never had a back up mid field rotation, particularly without Merrett, so we should have always been in a position to outrun them in the last qtr. Frampton started in the last quarter and we went to town on them with a deep midfield that still had a bit in the tank. To do that without Pendlebury having any impact for the last 15 mins made the comeback even more impressive.Pies4shaw wrote:It was a strange one - we had the 5 leading disposal-winners (and they were our 5 best footballers - Naicos, Sidey, Jaicos, De Goey and Pendles) and led most of the stats (the only one we were losing badly was the frees) but just couldn't score readily. Obviously, from the way the last quarter unfolded, Essendon just didn't have the legs to keep blocking all the holes for another quarter. Collingwood actually - to use a cliche - ran riot.stoliboy wrote:Firstly a moment of silence for the Umpires who couldn't get their side up today (free kicks 10-19 Essendon's way).
What a come from behind win. Last year I believed we could always come back but thought the game was done at 3QT.
