Lately posters have been praising the once much-maligned WHE, and what happened?

He got dropped lol.

Likely the sub of course.

Odd...maybe WHE is not right, which I suspect.
That means an opportunity for Macrae, Harrison and McInnes as sub.

Don’t be surprised we see some big names as the starting sub in coming weeks as a form of “managing” players throughout the long gruelling season.

It’s all about hitting September with everybody healthy running on top of the ground,

Let’s all wrap our heads around the new “ rule “ surrounding the naming of the 23 player paper team. Currently W H E is the tactical sub because someone has to be.
The rules now state the player who is officially selected to be tactical sub is not required to be nominated and announced until about an hour before the game starts. We can assume all we want but his current starting position means zero until about 2.00 on Sunday. He may well start as the sub but equally he may well not. Fly isn’t one for games, so there’s probably something in it but from the rules aspect, W H E is not yet the official tactical sub.

Provided you get there, and we do want to finish up top four or on top of the ladder.
The club has managed players in the past provided there is good reason.
I don't think it's club revolving-door policy to give fringe players a go per se.

It's not like one day cricket IMO, the way Collingwod players get in the team is by replacing injured players or replacing a horribly out of form player (more rare). You can see with bottom-of-the-ladder North Melbourne that we're replacing, at most, only one player.

I have spent a little time this morning laughing about Carlton's statistical lows for goal-kicking accuracy (Cripps is going at 7.7% accuracy over the season, which is very funny). In that context, I noted that Collingwood had 6 players who, between them, kicked 10 goals from 10 shots at goal in last week's game.

That, of course, indicates that there is some fair room for improvement in the accuracy stakes from some of our other players. So, aside from the players who nailed every shot they had against Carlton, we also had Cox kicking 1 from 4 (which was unusual for him - he's usually very accurate from medium range), McCreery and Elliott each 1 from 2, De Goey 0 from 2 and Pendles and Quaynor each missed with their single shot.

In our only loss so far in 2023, we had 7 players who had multiple shots on goal - between them, they managed just 10 goals from 22 shots (and Elliott, remarkably, was 0 from 4). Hence, we scored just 11 goals from 27 shots. At the other end, Brisbane had 6 players with multiple shots at goal. Between them, those 6 kicked 16 goals from 23 shots. I understand, of course, that accuracy is partly a consequence of the other team's pressure and the general run of play (including where our players get their shots and the associated degree of difficulty) but if our players with multiple shots on goals had also kicked 16 from their 23 shots and all other things had been equal, the result would have been about a 9 or 10-goal turnaround, our way.

This is something to watch the 'pies working on as we move towards the Finals.

I am hoping for a decent crowd tomorrow for Sidebottom 300th and Cox 100th games.

Over 40,000 will be good for us, considering the timeslot.

The SIDE near the BOTTOM Kangaroos will be hopping to make it a close game.
Magpies will swoop to fly away with a comfortable win at CGI Stadium.
It doesn’t get any more Black & White than that.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but interesting to see Buckley sitting up the back of the Freo Coaches box. Just offering some advice/support for his old assistant coach?
