1/4 time, Pies 4.6.30 to Preston 0.2.2.
Pies dominated general play, sloppy kicking from set shots cost at least 2 goals.
Reef, Freddie and Big O all trying to take mark of the year in the forward line, I liked Reef's best.
Macrae and Bianco leding possession getters for the Pies, Reef top ranked player on the ground.
4 goals shared between Reef, Big O, Wilson (AFL) and Glover.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
We’ve finally got some shape and presence on the forward line with multiple tall targets on offer. We’re so much less predictable and a player like Reef should finally get some space to work in. McInnes, Steene and Krueger have all taken early hangers ( none better than Steene ) and to be honest we should be further in front. It’s early days but we look good across the ground and hopefully today is the day our forwards can finally get some reward.

Half time, Pies 8.9.57 to Preston 3.5.23.
That was reminiscent of Yesterday's AFY game. Preston got going in the midfield and started run and carry, dominating possessions and we suddenly lost the ability to hit a target inside 50 and resorted to bombing long from outside 50. reef missed another sitter but scrambled one out of a pack and Wilson (AFL) scrounged 2 running into goal.
Defence working well, forward line lacking connection with midfield.
Bianco quiet that quarter, Macreae our highest possession getter with 17.
Wilson (AFL) now has 3 goals, Reef 2.
Tackle count is interesting, Draper has 5, Begg 4, and Big O has 3.
Need to lift in the 3rd, hopefully history repeats.

Half time. Pies 8 9 57 to Bullants 3 5 23
Wilson 3 goals ( two easy ones in the second ) MacRae, Kelly and Bianco leading the possessions. Kelly on the wing and Bianco at half back. Ed Allen not playing in this game.
Of the rookies, Jacob Ryan looks the standout to me. He plays the “ Collingwood way “ and he really doesnt make many mistakes in a game of footy. Steene shows promise but right now he’s a blank canvas. Krueger getting into the game but still so rusty in some of the basics of the game. Wilson has been rewarded for hard running more than anything, so I’m not sure he brings any point of difference that gets him a senior game. Ruscoe been busy and looks a cut above. All in all, a lot to like at the half way mark of the game.

Three quarter time. Pies 12 17 89 to the Bullants 3 8 26
I didn’t watch much of third quarter with the Tigers / Giants game so close, so I’m only quoting stats rather than observations.
Wilson 3 goals, McInnes, Krueger and Steene all with 2 each ( Collingwood listed players only )
Possessions - Kelly, MacRae and Bianco continue to lead the ball winners.
Apparently Steene had an impressive quarter with another big grab and second goal according to the commentators
We’ve been wasteful in front of goal but at least it won’t impact the result of the game.

3/4 time, much better quarter, could have been very good but for some horrible goal kicking.
Pies lead 12.17. 89 to Preston 3.8.26. We kicked 4 goals 8 that quarter and pretty much all of those 8 should have been goals. Some shitful kicking.
Bianco and Macrae have gone missing, but the talls have stood up. Reef has 2 goals 3 and really should have 5 straight.
Freddie is one hell of an instinctive footballer, got a brilliant goal right on the goal line after a chase and bump for what looked like 100% rushed behind, but when he has time to stop and think he suffers badly from cranial flatulence.
Should be over 100 points in front but for appalling goal kicking, but the system is the same as the AFL team. You can see it.Run hard forward but also run hard back in defence.

Final score. Pies 16 19 115 to the Bullants 9 10 64
Major goal kickers. Glover, Wilson 4, Krueger 3, Steene, McInnes 2 each.
Interesting that every Pies goal today, except one was scored by a tall.
Major ball winners MacRae 25 Bianco 24 Ruscoe 23 Kelly 22 Carmichael and Ryan with 19.
GOOD NEWS - Krueger back on for the last few minutes
Good win but Bullants aren’t much chop. Take it and load up again for next week against the reigning VFL premiers.
