Full Time, Pies win 16.19.115 to Preston 9.10.64.

Pressure dropped significantly in the last and it became a shoot out. Freddy hurt his ankle standing all alone trying to jump vertically at a ball going just over his head, leaned back in mid air and landed awkwardly.

Macrae and Bianco lifted in that quarter, as did VFl Wilson.

For mine, Ruscoe played a great game down back, the general down there, just needs a vacancy to slot into the AFL side.

Begg and Steene, lot to work with there, love how Begg competes at ground level like a midfielder.

Kelly got a lot of meaningless possessions playing bruise free footy on a wing. Delist at end of season.

Reef had a very good game. We need to decide if we are trying to make him a key forward or is a future midfielder, his forward work is very good but get him in the weights room. He also can step straight in given a vacancy.

Not sure who you'd bring in to replace Jordy, Macrae is hardly like for like, reef could be but needs more size and midfield minutes.

Anyway, good win in the end.

Saw the first three quarters. Very frustrating game against an enthusiastic but poor quality opponent, very messy to watch.

Some poor, and occasionally straight up slack, kicking for goal all round, on a day with no breeze. McInnes missed about five very, very kickable goals. You'd like to think it was just one of those days, but it's harder to argue against a player gunning for senior football who's kicked 6 as opposed to 2.

Considering it was a day for hard fought, clearance football, Carmichael didn't have one of his better days.

Will Kelly started back but got moved further up the ground in the second half. Does he have the tank to be a classic "between the arcs" wingman? It might be the only way he can save his career.

There were some signs of what Steene could be. Won some taps, and when he got the chance, attacked the footy when going for marks. Long way to go though.
