The scoreboard flatters us.

That was a 6+ goal loss on most days.

Two losses now against fellow top 4 teams should serve as a reminder that the Premiership will be anything other than a cakewalk.

Meh, we played poorly and got close, although the game should have been over half way through the last, they were incredibly inaccurate, probably because of the pressure they applied all game.

Ball did not bounce our way, and a few sitters were dropped and missed.

I do worry about Ash in high pressure games, goes missing all too easily and wondering if his spot is the one McStay gets.

Josh looked liked a player who had the flu all week.

Grundy and Gawn schooled our rucks, no surprise given what they are getting payed, but we will need to square that battle next time.

Lots to work on, thats a good thing at this stage on the year. Flag certainly no certainty

I doubt anyone ever truly believed it was going to be a cakewalk swoop. The AFL have done their level best to ensure all teams are equal no matter how well or poorly they are run.

Josh and Cox didn’t have their usual impact today. Maybe carrying a bit of residue from their illnesses.

I don’t think Melbourne have too much improvement in them but we can expect plenty of improvement with the return of JDG, Elliott, Sidey and Howe coming back and more game time into Lippa

Maybe Krueger and McStay will put pressure on Johnston to perform more consistently- I trust the match committee to make the best decision

Take proven goal kickers and goal sneaks like Jack, Jamie, JDG and Sidearse out of any team, and its got to affect the forward line a lot. As others are saying too learn from this defeat, rest up, recharge, and come back hard post the bye.

Dees played at 125% today.

They match up well on us and we were somewhat undermanned. Im not concerned about Johnson. Every forward has a dirty day every now and then, and he wasn't the only one today. We will be better in that department when Elliot is back.

One loss up at the Gabbatoir with NO rucks, nobody wins up there, and lost today with six stars out, with a decimated forward line. JDG and Sidey huge losses, cant wait for Howe to return too. We will learn a lot from today, they cannot improve against us, we can improve heaps .

Johnson is young and will learn hopefully. Plenty of potential but when the heat is truly on big time he fades into the background. Hopefully another preseason will see that disappear.

Melbourne’s backs are elite and you need to apply a lot of forward pressure to worry them. Sadly, our forwards didn’t apply the pressure we needed to allow the Dees to start most of their attacking plays from their D50

They have a great backline but they were playing against our second string forward line and just fell over the line.
Disappointing to lose but far more positives for us than the Dees.

Yep, Jack Ginni and Jamie flying would have lit up our forward line today, both badly missed. sigh.

With 2 minutes to go you couldn't have driven a knitting needle up Goodwin's date with a sledgehammer. We came home hard but really should never have been needing to.

Missing JDG, others recovering from virus, we weren't at our best and paid for it but face that mob in September we'll belt them.

Into the Bye, R&R and reload for the business half of the season.
