For the 1st Test, NZ v SL, Prabath Jayasuriya is favourite to be SL's top wicket taker (1st innings).
3.75, ahead of Rajitha and Mendis (both 4.00).
Don't think there'll be a lotta spin... The fast guys are favourite for NZ's top wicket taker, 1st innings: Southee (3.50), ahead of Henry and Wagner (3.75)
Looks like the bookies got that one wrong. Dunno what they were thinking. On a 1st-innings NZ pitch, you expect the spinner... Prabath Jayasuriya took only 1/46 (10). (Fernando and Kumara took 4 and 3.)
But in S. Africa, Gudakesh Motie took the 1st 3 wickets in SA's 1st innings. He finished with 3/75 (19). (Joseph and Mayers also took 3.)
"Sri Lanka spinner Prabath Jayasuriya, the man who dominated Australia on Test debut nine months ago, has become the fastest tweaker to 50 wickets in men's Test history.
With the wicket of Ireland's Paul Stirling, caught by Kusal Mendis on the fifth day in Galle, Jayasuriya claimed his seventh wicket of the match and 50th overall, reaching the milestone in his seventh Test, having bowled in 13 innings."

Jayasuriya is another Murali
THEN... Gudakesh Motie is another Alf Valentine*.

Sadly, Motie is currently injured... Just when WI serve up a flat, spinning pitch for the 1st Test against India. Ashwin and Jadeja took 17 out of the 20 WI wickets.

2nd Test looks like it's taking spin too. Motie's replacement, Jomel Warrican (left-arm orthodox), took 3/89 (39) in India's 1st innings. Warrican is 31 and debuted 22 Oct 2015.
Yup, Tassie on a very flat (1/104 in the 20th over) opening-morning pitch, destroying the defective technique of FTB Smith. FTB has a known weakness against left-arm orthodox bowling. It's cos he swipes across the line of the ball to legside. Bad when the ball is spinning away. No surprise he nicks off to slip.
