It’s funny you make out like you don’t have jealous thoughts and see the good in everyone, then you make a comment like “did your kids buy their house with help from the bank of Mum and dad?”
Mate that’s pure arseholeism, tall poppy syndrome!
I don’t care, I know plenty of people like that, I’m still friends with them but like all women, I read between the lines cos honey that’s a women’s greatest tool! Writing between the lines!
Back on track. This debacle will fail and be yet another total waste of government funds simply because there has been no transparency and worse, a song and dance when asked questions. If you can’t answer questions about your own policy you are doomed.

I just think it's incredibly dumb to go with a referendum when you can see what will happen a mile off. How stupid can the ALP be? They put themselves on a hiding to nothing.
Facepalm dumb. Talk about handing a free kick to the Glibs and giving scumbags a stage on which to kick indigenous people in the guts for fun.
As someone above said, take the medicine and just go for the constitutional recognition. Unfortunately, they may have killed that possibility as well by stupidly going too far, although it can still be won because pulling the Voice will look like a step down, giving scumbags their Facebook win.

In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

^They're stuck in the old way of doing business, i.e., teeing themselves up to wear responsibility for a national tragedy bigger than any party or individual, the roots of which are centuries old, the tragedy of which we're all born into, particularly those at the heart of the tragedy.
Now, everyone gets to wash their hands again, from the disengaged to self-servers who pretend to care but don't really, all the way across the spectrum to egregious thugs and racists, because the problem is now 'the bad ALP plan'.
"But, but it was a bad plan". "But, but, we tried".
Of course, that's nothing like what adult responsibility looks like. Efforts have to be bipartisan and run completely independently of the electoral cycle, as different approaches are tested an tweaked.
Referenda are the height of cowardice in the present political environment. Dead in the water the second they're announced. The bad faith all round just repulses me.
No one's to blame for massive systemic problems except those not willing to genuinely try and fail as part of a solution-finding, de-politicised process, disconnected from the electoral and news cycle. You don't politicise people's suffering like this, FFS.
Like day follows night, everything goes this way now. Anglo-American politics is like an endless episode of Dumb and Dumber

Albo has apparently doubled down on the referendum, refusing to consider changes and saying this is the only chance for Indigenous recognition.
There's a point where being a stubborn cnut crosses the line to being a stupid cnut.
If he proceeds as planned, the referendum will fail, there'll be no recognition of First Nations Peoples in the constitution and if he even thinks about legislating The Voice, he'll have just taken a pretty fair poll that people don't want it, so First Nations Peoples are set back 20 years.
If however, he swallows his pride, changes the referendum to only recognising First Nations Peoples in the Constitution and delaying it to make time for more information, it has a high chance of getting up. Then there is no impediment to just legislating The Voice.
Negotiation is about compromise, you may not get everything you want but the second way achieves most of what they want and, in essence, will deliver the same outcomes. Sticking stubbornly to an all or nothing plan means, we'll get nothing.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

If you want a good laugh, read the pro “NO” campaign article (called inside a right wing forum rallying the troops to say NO) in the Age today. The question is asked of far right wingers “are you racists” and the answer was NO! Its like asking a mob of Mafia members “are you a pack of thugs?” and getting the answer NO
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm
Yes, let's blame the side of politics who are supporting the voice, the parties trying to start a process in the hope it can improve the outcomes for future generations of Indigenous people.
Honestly.
If the referendum fails it falls squarely on the shoulders of the Coalition, the misinformation being touted as fact and the barely disguised bigotry emanating from much of the No campaign.
This is nothing but a cynical political opportunity for them, they want to breed division and appeal to the worst of human nature.
It's what the right seek to do and it's the same playbook we see trotted out against other marginalised communities whether it be Trans people or asylum seekers.
Disappointing but no surprise that the usual suspects on here aren't going to support the voice.
Once again it's all about them when in actuality it isn't at all.
That's the whole bloody point.
