Maybe we should get him back. Apparently if he was to agree to move on from Melbourne, they don’t pay a further cent of his contract but we still cough up our annual $300K.

the ruck isnt the problem with the midfield. Hawthorn only had 1 ruckman as well.

Pendles got chopped up.

Mason Cox does not solve the problem of an area of pendles game that has passed him. hes still pretty good around the ground but hes getting caught with the ball more and disposals are getting a bit more questionable.

and just to remind us how bad our centre clearances are.... we smashed the suns at metricon a few weeks ago and the stats where 13/13

swans beat eagles earlier in the year by 171 points and it was in their favour 22/11

this illustrates how bad our 18/3 actually is.. and yes we are great in other parts of the game but we should be at least be getting to 50% e.g 18/9

I expect Cox will spend another week in the ressies to dominate the ruck and regain confidence. Then he'll come back for the last 2 h & a games.

Yep, it's the midfield. I even recall seeing Pendles getting Hand of God'd.

What about the time Jake Niall suggested we were going to use Rupert Wills as a ruckman? How did he keep his job after that?
His one career hit-out stat he recorded against Sydney in 2019 must have been straight down Dayne Beams throat...

COX and CAMERON 50:50

Post by inxs88 »

Reckon we got our answer after 22 weeks in regards to this much vexed issue. Cameron's last 3 weeks have been dreadful from a centre bounce hits outs perspective. At quarter time last night the overall hit outs were 18 to 4 Brisbane's way despite Cameron's superior around the ground presence.

With an ageing mid-field, we all saw Cox's aerial dominance in the 3rd quarter to a slower than treacle (joke) Pendles who turned back the clock. The re-emergence of McStay has made this 3 tall conundrum an issue for match committee and I liked the fact that after Cox came on, they didn't move Cameron forward. In fact every time they rotated it was off the bench.

Against Essendon, I'd like to see Cox start as first ruck, Cameron on the bench and strictly rotate from the bench. Interestingly they both kicked a goal each from running forward as Rucks which should be encouraged, but no Cox, Cameron and McStay on the ground at same time EVER.

Thoughts?

I think that Cameron has been very disappointing this year even factoring in that he had a long layoff with injury. His overhead marking and general contest around the ground has been poor and a very big reason why our defence has been under immense pressure the last 6 weeks.
Both Cox and Cameron’s inability to clunk the dump kicks at either end of the ground has enabled the opposition to either maintain their F50 pressure or make easy transition from one end of the ground to the other.
Cameron not taking a single mark vs Geelong playing as the No 1 ruckman was symbolic of his season so far.
Having said all of that, we know that both of them have the ability to play much better and hopefully they click in September.

Good points. Cameron's 6 possessions against the Cats and that shocking dropped mark with 10 mins to go was a red flag!! Think 50:50 may be a good balance.
