It has been truly wonderful to watch Sidey take his game to such heights. Now his sheer brilliance is being complemented by his leadership and mentoring on the ground for our younger players. Under Fly, Sidey has been reborn and we are seeing him in his maturity playing just as brilliantly as in his youth. His value to our team right now is immense. Congratulations to Sidey. I hope he enjoys his 300th to the max!

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

It's been awesome to see him back to his best under McRae. That made this a proper 300 for a gun player, rather than a mercy 300. It shows how even top senior players can benefit from good coaching and culture.
The injury is one of those absurdities life throws at us. He can now laugh it off because his enthusiasm for playing at the highest level is so evident. In the alternative reality, it might have been a threat to a career in decline.
Congratulations, lad.

Sidebottom on nailing biggest kick of his AFL career
Roger Vaughan. The West Australian. Sun, 1 October 2023
The instant it left his boot, Steele Sidebottom knew he'd nailed the biggest kick of his AFL career. His booming 50-plus metre goal proved the match winner on Saturday as Collingwood beat Brisbane by four points in one of the all-time great grand finals.
The 32-year-old starred in his 309th AFL game and Sidebottom says this feels much better than Collingwood's 2010 premiership win, when he was the youngest player in the Magpies' side. Sidebottom was paid a 50m penalty after a mark on the wing and that brought him within range during the frenetic last quarter on Saturday at the MCG.
Jordan De Goey had put the Magpies back in front with a goal only two minutes earlier. As it turned out, they needed Sidebottom's insurance goal because Joe Daniher's was the last of the game. Sidebottom said he considered passing to Nick Daicos, but the young gun was manned up quickly...
