Any chat of a future first and third (and getting a future fourth back) for Schultz feels like too much for me. If we do that it also suggests we aren’t anywhere in negotiations for a big name in trading calculations next year (we’ll start the year with effectively a second rounder only).
I’d much prefer our first this year and next years second rounder if those pr1cks want more…
I wouldn’t mind if we hang tight for 12 months if it means keeping a bit more up our sleeve. He’s be a great addition, but small forwards I’d probably something we don’t have a shortage of IMO. Sure they’re probably not as good as him, but could play a role none the less. We can’t lose sight of the thi gs we need to add over the next 2-3 years and if we blow our wad for next years draft now on Schultz I think it could be a retrograde step.
Maybe if we end up giving F1 and F3 it is an admission that we’re not planning anything g major for next year as I don’t believe Wrighty would compromise doing something that could transform the club for 7-8 years in exchange for Schultz.

It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

We now have in 2023 Draft: Picks 19, 39, 80 and 98
With official outs from Primary List being:
* Adams
* Ruscoe
* Bianco
* Draper
Official Ins:
* L Schultz
Rookie list:
* Murley (Markov takes his spot)
Cat B:
* T Wilson
Summary:
We have 3 live spots left on our list. Likely to use only picks 19 and 39 in the Draft and have one spot left for either: Billings or a March Supplementary Player (SSP) which gives the club added flexibility as evidenced by Charlie Dean going down again for the inclusion of Markov.

I wonder what tall backmen are running around in the VFL . . . that is certainly going to be an area of need shortly and Checkers has done us proud.Pies2016 wrote:^ ^ ^
Assuming our 2023 draft hand doesn’t change much ( and it really can’t unless we trade out a decent player ) this draft hand has got a mature age Hail Mary selection written all over it with our second pick. I smell a left field Smokey.
Incidentally how good is it that in two years we have gone from a shambles recruitment / trading wise to being a bit of a destination club and being able to line up good prospects for aging stars?

I really like Eyre playing for our Magoos but have no idea how the coaching staff see him, was touted as an u18. Phillips is the Fothergill medal 200cm intercepting defender you'd think everyone is chasing but no one touched him last year after the win. Saints have Howard and Highmore but everyone seems to hate them, it looks thin without another Wrighty miracle.jonmac1954 wrote:^

Also interested to hear others thoughts on Brodie McLaughlin. Leading goal kicker in the VFL. Helped lead them to the premiership. 25 years old, 193cm, Key Forward, zero AFL games.

But I see only 12 games there... Draftguru says he played 14 (plus 1 Reserves game ), after 19 the previous season:

For Werribee 2014-15, 20 games and 12 Reserves games... Wow...
