We might get better value out of a Liam Duggan (WC), Jack Sinclair (StK), Liam Baker (R), Jy Simpkin (NM), Blake Hardwick (H), Isaac Cumming (GWS), Ben Ainsworth (GC) or a Brennan Cox (F)
We should have had Blake Hardwick in the first place. Kicked some stupid amount of goals in his TAC year and we could have used his ability. Turns out he was better suited to half back and would have pushed one of our mid sized defenders into a more midfield role. Or maybe even stayed forward, pushing DeGoey into the midfield earlier.

Hiney picked his mate's kid from obscurity instead (Sier).

Every AFL side's biggest free agent in 2024:

• Adelaide: Ben Keays/Taylor Walker

• Brisbane: Hugh McCluggage

• GWS: Nick Haynes

• WB: Tim English
Poaching Keays from the Crows would be a great get; we could have got him late 2020 when he left Brisbane, but since the list and cap was in such utter turmoil at the time, it might not have been practical.

Walker, like Keays would be a nice steal; neither likely to leave as Crows approach the window in 2024, unless they take an unexpected step backwards for some reason...

McCluggage would be perfect, but think he'd be demanding the biggest contract behind Neale and Andrews, so the price might be too high.

Haynes/Keeffe would be handy down back, even in the short term; depends on how much longer Howe and Murphy hold up.

English would be excellent too, if Cox tapers off, Begg doesn't develop, or Lycett is stuck in the medical rooms...

Are you stuck on the Tim English of what, 3 or 4 years ago, or the Tim English that was all-Australian this year?
Go back and have a look at him rucking against Melbourne. Same old, same old. He's never been much good - it's a bit lucky for him that ruck is a spot where most of the players are about as useless as each other. He is an all-Australian like Woewodin is a Brownlow Medallist.
Nice to see you've finally seen the light and realised how useless calling Grundy an All Australian is

Roos delisted Aiden Bonar. - Pick 11 2017 Draft - Defender 24yrs, 188cm, 87kg.

He was pretty poor for Roos I thought, injuries didn't help. Could the new club/better environment work on him?

The lad from Franga! Been at 2 clubs now. Clearly rated as a youngster. He'll be looked at no doubt. The questions over injuries and form need to be asked. Was he poorly coached?

Would be something if we ended up with picks 10 and 11 from the 2017 draft. We were linked to Lochie O'Brien a couple of seasons ago. 185cm, 24yo mid that isnt filling an urgent need for the list. https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players ... Brien.html

But O'Brien to me, would be a good addition via the rookie draft. Grew up supporting the Pies. Is a bit of a clanger king, but as a rookie, can add midfield depth and is an upgrade over Bianco.

No doubt a change of Club offers him the opportunity for redemption of a flagging career, but it'd be his 3rd Club.
He's played 34 games over 6 seasons experiencing 7 wins.
As noted he's had a wretched run with injury, but he does offer positional versatility.
Q would he be able to dislodge the likes of Maynard, IQ, Markov, Ryan? One players spot he might be able to contest for is WHE.

If the Club was convinced he possesses the character to have a real crack, I'd certainly invite him down to train over the Summer with prospect of a pre-season draft spot. Would you sign him for 2 years though? Can't expect he'd turn up for a 1-year contract.

You read his original draft bio, and he clearly is one that could have been anything.

Straight way, two things stand out from that link...

two knee reconstructions

oozes X-factor

Later on;

STRENGTHS:
Kicking
Acceleration
X-factor
Versatility

IMPROVEMENTS:
Endurance
Consistency

SSP/Rookie spot at best. If endurance, consistency and injuries including 2 knee recos are a problem, then it could be a pass. Looks like he doesnt like to tackle either.

Bonar and Cox would be quite a combo.

Would add a lot of experience to our rehab group.

30 games over 2 seasons in the VFL: https://vfl.aflmstats.com/player/Jack_Peris

Would like to see more tackles and more score involements. But let's not forget, he hasnt turned 20 yet.

Has played 1 game at the top level: https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players ... Peris.html

His Rooke Me Central bio: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/jack-peris/

I'd need some convincing, but he could be a project player. Surprised Essendon arent into him tbh.
