Choke? Don’t they just lack talent against good bowling? There have been a lot of very flat tracks in this World Cup - and they did lose to the Dutch in a low-scoring game, too.

X 100!

I reckon (and hope) that probability means that the unbeaten team India are due for a loss. I very much hope that they stuff it up today. Go Aussies
I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️

FTB Smith played one of the most atrocious shots y'all'll ever see.

Reminded me of Damien Martyn against S. Africa, i.e. the brainfade part. (Martyn's shot was different and played way better. But of course Oz lost.)

FTB couldn't hack the pressure. Everyone knows FTB's weakness against the short ball, so S. Africa tried it. But the ball that got him wasn't short. Coetzee had bowled one, so he was allowed one more in the over. Oz's last great batsman, Ricky Ponting, said he reckoned FTB thought it'd be another short ball. It wasn't. He ended up playing a wild slog. And the ball just went straight up in the air. When run rate didn't matter. Just wickets. So all he had to do was stay with Inglis, who was doing all the scoring anyway.

Just atrocious cricket from FTB. He swiped his bat in anger at himself before the catch was even completed. He was right to be angry at himself. So stupid. Even a number 11 woulda been embarrassed by that shot.

Not a choke, but...

The catching maybe was the difference. Oz took all chances. Rassie took a good catch to get rid of Marsh, but S. Africa dropped 6+ catches. Early on, Athers said it was 4 dropped catches. Dunno which they were counting. Two clear ones off Head (sub fielder at deep point, and nick through first slip). The other two? Dunno if they included FTB Smith's to Bavuma. Did it land just short?

Later, QdK dropped at least 2. Nicks from spin by FTB and Cummins.

Oh... And FTB Smith again did his best to run out his batting partner. He totally BBQed Inglis. Dunno if a direct hit woulda beaten him. (Against the Dutch, FTB BBQed Warner even worse. Warner and FTB were at the same end!! But the Dutch stuffed that up.)

Oz win toss, bowl :!:

Unchanged team. Rohit said he'd have batted first anyway.

Cummins is betting on batting conditions getting "better and better". Says night dew is a factor. (But can India rig that too?? Against NZ in the SF, the night dew just disappeared!! Their ground staff are magicians!)

Need to get Rohit and Virat early.

Zampa stats:

"Those are Warne-esque areas. The best haul the King had at a World Cup was 20 in 1999, while Zampa broke Brad Hogg’s Australian record of 21 from the 2007 tournament.

One more wicket on Sunday and he will equal Muttiah Muralidaran’s all-time spinners’ record of 23 for a World Cup, also set in 2007, but he is hoping for many more."

2/76. Fantastic catch from Travis Head to send the dangerous Rohit on his way. A very relieved Maxwell was the bowler.
Donny.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D

I'm being painfully reminded why cricket lovers turned against 50 over games.

It's those dead boring middle overs. Field set deep and the 2 batsmen simply pushing balls for singles. Only the bad balls would sometimes get hit for 4s.
