2024 Injury tracker (please quote/link source).
All going well this thread won't extend to many pages over the course of 2024.
Our Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade provided timely and clear updates over the course of 2023, which proved to be the most reliable source of updates and expected player returns. I'll continue to post those as they're released.
If proving an injury update, please make an effort to quote the source / provide a link to your information, as opposed to BBQ expert discussion level assessments of diagnosis or recovery times.
Collingwood forward Dan McStay is likely to miss the 2024 AFL season after scans today confirmed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.

Vice-Captain Brayden Maynard underwent shoulder stabilisation surgery in the off-season. The defender is expected to return to full training in February following a 12-week recovery period. Maynard had surgery to his opposite shoulder during last year’s off-season.
Forward Jamie Elliott will follow a modified contact-free training plan before the Christmas break, as he regains strength in his shoulder after undergoing minor surgery to repair ligaments. The 31-year-old is expected to return to a full training load in January.
In a similar fashion to previous years, Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom and Jeremy Howe are all working through tailored, individual pre-season programs. The trio will complete some training sessions in December before returning to full training in January.
Further injury updates will be communicated by the Club in mid-January.

Collingwood skipper undergoes surgery ahead of 2024 flag defence
Darcy Moore has reportedly undergone surgery on a wrist issue ahead of the club's Christmas break.
The star defender had been placed on a limited program prior to the operation.

Pies' hard-nut ramps up recovery, Daicos back on track
Brayden Maynard will transition back into full contact training in the next fortnight as his recovery from a shoulder reconstruction progresses.
Premiership trio Jack Crisp, Brody Mihocek and Jamie Elliott, plus Charlie Dean missed training on Monday due to positive COVID-19 tests at the start of the day, but all four are expected back later in the week.

Well I can’t tell you any secrets, but today I had the absolute pleasure of having my 2 yearly injections in both my bum knees by our chief medical officer, Reuben Branson! Awesome shot of his team with the cup after the game, and he said the words that made me forget the size of needles no’s 3!
“Now we work on back to back”!
Cheers!

Boom! Just like that we lose three. Granted they’re all a bit different, it we will have injuries as the season rolls on just like any other season.
Not sure we were gonna see DeMattia in that time he’ll be out (is his injury similar to McStay last year?).
Schultz should be fine.
The Murphy one is a bit odd and doesn’t give you the feeling he’ll play another 200 games (although I hope I’m wrong…)

It's never as good/nor bad as it seems...

Premiership defender gets green light for Opening Round, Josh Daicos named for scratch match
Brayden Maynard will be fit to feature in Opening Round, while another star is firming to face the GWS Giants. He could be joined in that match by key forward Brody Mihocek, who had been sidelined by a calf injury.
Premiership defender Nathan Murphy, 2023 draftee Harry DeMattia (finger), and SSP pick Josh Eyre (hamstring) are all in various stages of returning to full training, with the former working on improving his confidence after a concussion on Grand Final day last year.

Collingwood star Scott Pendlebury to miss final pre-season match
Collingwood stars Scott Pendlebury and Jeremy Howe will enter the season without a match against opposition under their belts after the pair sustained training injuries last week.
The veteran duo will sit out the Magpies’ inaugural Charity Shield match against Richmond at Ikon Park on Tuesday night, while the Tigers have regained a handful of stars from their first pre-season hitout including Dustin Martin, Tim Taranto and Dion Prestia.
The Magpies said Pendlebury suffered a knock to his knee during training on Sunday but was expected to be available for next week’s Opening Round clash against GWS, while Howe was also set to be fit to play in the season proper as he recovers from a corked calf sustained at training
Captain Darcy Moore will return for the Magpies after he sat out last week’s match sim loss to North Melbourne, but his opposite Toby Nankervis will not play for the Tigers as he continues to manage a foot injury.
