IQ had a great year, and finished 6th in the Copeland Trophy.

If all goes well, we've got another 8-10 years to enjoy of him.

Hows his brother looking in the TAC?
I wonder if we'll be able to draft him with the new academy rules?

IQ signs new 5 year deal

Post by Born to Pie »

Email from the club:

Collingwood 2023 Premiership defender Isaac Quaynor has signed a fresh deal with the Club.
The 24-year-old has penned a five-year contract extension which will see him remain in the black-and-white stripes until at least the end of 2029.

A product of Collingwood’s Next Generation Academy, Quaynor was drafted by the Club with pick 13 in 2018.

Following his AFL debut against Hawthorn in 2019, Quaynor has gone on to play 85 games for the Club across five seasons. Having taken part in all 27 games for the Pies last season, Quaynor has only missed 14 games throughout his career.

Season 2023 was arguably Quaynor’s best to date with the half-back receiving his first All-Australian Squad selection, while finishing in sixth place in the Club’s E. W. Copeland count.

Collingwood’s General Manager of Football Graham Wright said he was pleased with Quaynor’s commitment to the Club.
“We’re glad to have Isaac extend with Collingwood for a further five years,” Wright said.
“Throughout his time at the Club, Isaac has shown great commitment to his development which has translated in his impressive contributions on-field particularly throughout the 2023 season.
“Isaac’s maturity is beyond his years, and we regard him as a strong future leader for this Club.
“We’re excited to see him continue to develop and contribute to our football program in the years to come.”
In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away

^thats a tremendous result for all concerned, particularly considering he'd make the match day 22 of every Club in the comp and as a result his manager would have fielded numerous enquiries.
That should push him out until he becomes an UFA.
Reward for effort.

Good result.
Only concern for mine is whether 5 years is too long?

Yes, I don't think he is at his peak yet. I think he will simply stun us over the next few years.

Once he can totally lock down the Charlie Cameron types of small forwards, he will be the complete package; but that is a big ask for any player.

Congrats to IQ, well deserved. My only hesitation is that all 4 of the leadership group are Defenders. I'd like at least 1 of the 4 to be a mid or forward.
