Great post mate, good to see the stats back up what most fair-minded people have seen all along: Woey tries his guts out and does a LOT of the hard stuff.

Completely correct - especially this last month. Now he just needs to smack the Dees around a bit, pick up a lazy 30 touches, kick a couple of goals, and maybe the media will pick up on it a bit!

Really happy with those stats. I have always been a big fan of his. One thing he does is provide the Pies with a lot more midfield options. His work ethc is excellent. Go Woey!

yes I for one am willing to give woey some credit, he has been playing well and consistent. Last year he played good then bad (often in the same game). One of his main problems was him being percieved as soft, which he often looked. thankfully he has all but eliminated that this year, some tough stuff, head down and backing into packs. Very impressive.

great post.

I'm definitely a woey fan and its nice to see something that will silence his critics. Goes to show that a classy player does not need to be fast to be effective.

Woey's been great in recent weeks. His tackling, hard ball gets and courage have really shone through in that time and the side is much better for it. He has really stood up without Bucks and has been a key to our 3 match 'winning' streak.

Just saw another thing regarding Woey on the afl site.

heres the link

Best and fairests: Who's leading?

"COLLINGWOOD - Shane Woewodin
Having his best season since his Brownlow Medal winning year with Melbourne in 2000, Woewodin has been a highly consistent performer for the Magpies in 2004. The left-footer has stood up in the absence of senior midfielders Nathan Buckley and Scott Burns and is on target to claim his first Copeland Trophy. He is likely to face competition in the second half of the season, with Paul Licuria, James Clement and Ben Johnson in the mix. "

Well, looks like its up to me to bring this down a little.
Though I acknowledge Woeys efforts this year have been way better than last year, I need to see a stat that shows how effective these possies have been. My impression is that he tends to turn it over a hell of a lot. Of course this may be due to pressure, but pressure can come from deficiences in a players game, i.e. "pace".

Woewodin is not the player we hoped him to be and I'm sure his new contract offer will reflect that. ATM he is on $400,000+, with the dreamons contributing $80,000 of that, ending this year. Can anyone here believe he is worth those dollars?

Remember the old saying: "Stats can be made to show anything you want"
