Buckley on player in top 50!

Having just read Mike Sheahans article about Buckley, I cannot believe that he doesnt rate any Collingwood player apart from Buckley in the top 50 players in the AFL.

I am not a football genius by any stretch of the imagination, but if he doesnt think Tarrant, Obree and Rocca arent good enough to be in the top 50, then he and I are obviously watching different forms of AFL. I think he might be watching the American Football League!

Tarrant - Second in the goal kicking and a superb mark and lead. A player who opposition clubs put their best defender on every week because of his ability. Need I say more!

O'bree - Second at Collingwood to Buckley (midfield) who is apparently No:8 on the "expert" list. Had as good a year as nearly every other midfielder in the AFL bar 5 or 6. I thought a top 10 midfielder would obviously make the top 50 players!

Rocca - Fitness probless, inaccurate kicking, laziness etc....whatever your thoughts on Rocca are, one thing is certain. He is a match winning key position player! Geez Mike I thought they were the players you thought of the most. Proven match winner on numerous occasions.

I cant wait to see the list. We finished 9th after being in the top 8 for the majority of the year, but only one of our players was good enough to make the top 50.

Thats why EVERYONE thinks Mike Sheahan compromises his own thoughts and opinions just to create a headline!....To be heard.

After last nights Copeland it's quite clear that now other players are stepping up to shake Collingwoods 'one man team' tag which is a good thing but if they can't rank higher than opposition sides best players then its pretty useless. Anyway it's only an opinion and meant to be argued with i spose so it will be interesting to see the letters Mike Sheehan gets in response to his selections. I personally would at least put OBree in there with Bucks.

Top 50's are based on whoever the (rest of the) media is currently raving about.

If anyone thinks he sits down and bases his list on tapes and notes from every game (from the previous year) you are kidding yourself. It's just him and his memories of who the media raved on about the most, during the previous season. With his natural biases being factored in too.

It's just an easy, off season, article. One, unfortunately, due to our love of lists, we will have to put up with every year.

Buck's is our only top 50 player. Lets face it, he has been our only class act for 5 years. By the end of next season expect to see a different story as Josh, Nick Davis aqnd Tarrant become better and more consistant. Tark's will feature too no doubt.
