Thanks for insights. Nice comeback after the shaky start. Did Begg play ruck the whole match or he share it, is it with Purcell?
Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter

Begg shared the ruck with Purcell.
Doesn't usually ruck the whole game, when Steene is back, he will go back to 2nd ruck,

Pies soundly beaten in the hitouts, 52 to 17, but won the clearances 42 to 33 due the work of Sullivan & Allan plus some good 2nd efforts by Begg,

Watched the game at Linton Street with a couple of Aints supporters who suggested that we had a Hangover I suggested yes but it has lasted only 3 games theirs was 58 seasons anyway.

Ain't started with a strong wind which dropped out in the last quarter. They kicked 5 in about 7 minutes to start the game before we kicked our first but we defended and ran the ball well in the last 15 to 20 minutes of the first quarter.

We kicked 5 in the first 5 minutes of the second using the breeze but went in maybe 2 goals up at the half way mark.

We ran the ball well into the breeze in the 3rd and out scored the Aints having a handy lead at 3/4 time.

Fraser suggested that we slow the ball down in the last quarter and not allow the Aints to get it out on in space. The Aints really wasted shots at goal in the last 10 minutes of the 3rd and first 10 minutes of the last.

Noble was John Noble run dash and 2 out of 3 kicks hitting a player but was the driver in defence of our attacks was BOG but was quite in the second half.

Carmichael was good and is tough but does not put any speed on the ball but lovely kick and gets it and gets intro good positions.

TJ nice hands but really only slightly built and plays a bit that way at one stage in the last I thought he was going to launch from about 70 out but did the team thing.

Begg was good especially when the ball was in dispute on the ground Sandy / Aints had a couple of big boys in the ruck who took plenty of marks but Begg battled on.

Jakob Ryan was solid in defence as was Glover (who was also good in attack)

AJ was quiet

Harvey Harrison was good but did not dominate

Ed Allan looks very likely and played well but did not dominate.

Richards loves a goal, can play but he looks very very small.

We might have a new "Cult Defender" Sofronidis took a few nice marks across half back. It is a good name to yell out Sof-Ron-Idisssssssss.

Charlie Dean was very solid even though the Aints player that belted Murph last year looked like kicking 10 + plus 5 minutes into the game. Charlie needs 3 or 4 more games in the VFL to get confident about himself

WHE did not play I hope (as I did not see him at all)

Nice to see a win

If anyone is interested!
Bucks you just reckon he can still cut it in the middle

^ I second that. Good to see the reserves start the season with a victory.

Strong numbers by Noble. Might be a potential replacement for Markov this week.

^ Good overview, Average Tourist. I agree with pretty much all of it

Sofrinidis didn't look out of place at all. Made the step up to VFL ok, I'd suggest and yep, could be a bit of a fan favourite.

I thought TJ looked a decent size, at least for this level. Depending on the state of the seniors later in the year, he might even be an outside chance for a taste.

You can see Ed Allan's class. and he knows how to find the pill

Noble has to be promoted

Yes Geek, Ed Allan looks the goods but would like to see him demand the ball and use his height. He might be one of those players who plays better in the Seniors.

I might have been a bit tough not mentioning Sullivan who was certainly more then serviceable.

Wouldn't be surprised if Sullivan is fast-tracked into the seniors if form doesn't improve in the coming weeks.
