Thanks. Off the top ( and that’s all it is ) Gordon Coventry looks to have the highest win / loss ratio of all those greats. I did the maths for Coventry with a win loss ratio of 72 %. Being one of the great full forwards of all time would have helped his team ( although it didn’t help Lockett ) but to win 72% of his games played over such an extended period in a team sport, is an incredible achievement. Given we now play in an “ equalised “ competition, we will unlikely see those win loss percentages from a any player again to have played over 150 games of AFL footy

^ I think Harry Collier's 193 wins, 4 draws and 56 losses from just 253 games are the best (77% win rate). Dibbs also won 167, drew 4 and lost 52 (76%).

Ok, thanks. The thought of any modern day footballer playing in three winning sides from every four games he plays over ( lets say ) an 8 year period, is hard to imagine. Given the period both Pendlebury and Sidebottom are now playing in, their wins per games played would also be at the pointy end of todays win loss ratios.

Just confirms in my view that Pendles is the greatest Collingwood player of all time. Apologies to the other great candidates. In reality you can't even compare how much harder it is to win in the AFL than it was in the VFL, so as dominant as the great 1920s side was, the modern day players simply have to rate better.

Best three of of all time (and then it's a raffle):
1. Pendlebury
2. Buckley
3. Bobby Rose

^ Buckley for Collingwood - 113 wins 2 draws and 145 losses.
Bobby Rose - 101 wins 1 draw 50 losses.

Between them, they played in fewer victories than Pendlebury (and, for that matter, Gordon Coventry).
