Jake made 65 from 18 balls and had his team 2/109 inside 7 overs - the highlight was the 3rd over, in which he hit 30 (4, 4, 6, 4, 6 & 6) - but then the wheels fell off. All out 199. Travis Head was POTM (again).
J F-McG now has the highest strike rate in the 2024 IPL of any player who has reached 100 runs. He has made 140 runs from 63 balls at an average of 46.66 and a strike rate of 222.22. He has already hit 14 6s. Meanwhile, TH is second on the total runs table, on 324 (strike rate 216) at an average of 54. Kohli is on 361 but he's played one more game.
Marcus Stoinis made 124* from 63 balls, more or less effortlessly (or, at least, it appeared so), batting at number 3 for Lucknow. That was the highest individual score ever made chasing a target in the IPL - and the highest ever score against Chennai. Lucknow's 211 was also the highest successful IPL run chase by a team in Chennai. Lucknow looked in troiuble, needing 113 more after 12 overs. At the start of the 20th over, Lucknow still need 17 runs. Just one team in the history of the IPL had made 17 in a final over chasing against Chennai but Stoinis made the target in a canter - 6, 4, 4 (and a no-ball) and 4, for Lucknow to win with 3 balls to spare. Lucknow are now 4th on the table, a game ahead of Chennai after they have both played 8 games.
Spare a thought for Gaikwad, who made his 4th century on the losing side in the IPL.
