You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!
Surprised that Sullivan is the sub...thought we would have to replace at least one of the two mids missing from the start of the game!!
With JN selected at centre half forward, I just get the feeling that something very strange and exotic is brewing in the Collingwood percolator.
We are going to cover JDG and Titch's absences clearly by proportionately increasing the midfield loads of others. I think Bruzza will get his call up for midfield duty in a big way tonight, and Naicos will be moved far more often from his HB role (hence the reason for Leggy's selection).
Clearly though, there is a plan in the background to deal with our expected loss in clearances, involving speed (both of foot and of ball movement), pressure and precision delivery.
The performance of our Cameron/Cox ruck combo will also be hugely important. If they can dictate the hitouts, that could go a long way in limiting the anticipated clearance damage.
In many ways, I feel this is uncharted territory, not just for us but also for Carlton. They will have found planning for this game somewhat difficult I imagine, as they don't know exactly what to expect.
I am quietly hoping for a miracle tonight, and I think that - unlike most miracles - there is a reasonable probability that it will occur.
