Reckon I can guess who the JPN horse was. Makes me hungry just thinking 'bout it!
The pre-race experts' call that Vauban was way too short looks right now. One was quoted saying there was a 1 missing in front of Vauban's odds!! Faded badly.
sb offered "rest of field" odds against Vauban of 1.15.

Nah, I don't know how that stuff works, I'm a very seldom gambler. Just $5 on each for the win and place, plus a couple of others, one of which is still running.Donny wrote:Did you couple them ? Quinella or Exacta ?
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
Melbourne Cup winner Verry Elleegant died while giving birth in Ireland.
Sydney-based part-owner Brae Sokolski:
“In layman’s terms, the foal position was in the worst position it could be in. They call it a ‘dog-sitter’ position. It was almost impossible to get the foal out. They couldn’t save the foal, and the foal caused a lot of internal damage to Verry Elleegant.
“They rushed her to a clinic, but they couldn’t save her. Verry Elleegant was insured, but it’s irrelevant. She was like a member of the family. I’ll never race another one that is better.”

500/1 multi collects don't come along too often, but when they do
Took ;
Pies by 1-39
Elliot - kick;1st, 2nd or 3rd goal
Hill - kick 3+ goals
Checkers kick 2+ goals
Mitchell 20+ possessions
Neale 25+ possessions
A teeny $5 returns $2500. A grand off the mortgage, $500 into Kels holiday account, a bit of play money for the weekend and a big one at the casino coming up on Sunday afternoon.

Black Caviar, Champion Racehorse and Australian Icon, Dies
She won every race she ran, and her fame went beyond the insular world of horseracing.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/18/worl ... -dies.html
'She transcended racing to become a household name in Australia and revived, for a time, a sport in decline. At the height of her career, she graced the cover of Vogue, met Queen Elizabeth II and had her own line of shampoo and conditioner.
Black Caviar, the Australian racehorse whose unbeaten streak of 25 victories from 2009 to 2013 made her a cultural icon, died on Saturday, one day before her 18th birthday.
Her death was confirmed by the Victoria Racing Club in a statement. Australian news media reported that her trainer, Peter Moody, said Black Caviar was euthanized after giving birth to a foal because she was suffering from laminitis, a painful disease that affects the hooves of horses. ...
Between 2009 and 2013, Black Caviar won 25 races from 25 starts, earning more than $5.3 million (about 8 million Australian dollars) in prize money. From 2010 to 2013, she was ranked the world’s best sprinter racehorse by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities. Some media outlets described her as “the world’s most popular racehorse.”
...
At times, Black Caviar’s fame transcended her equine nature. In 2012, she was named “sportswoman of the year” by one newspaper, controversially beating out a human Olympic hurdling champion, Sally Pearson. ...
...
In 2013, Mr. Moody said that Black Caviar would retire and be used for breeding. “She’s done everything we asked her to do; she couldn’t possibly have done any more,” he said at the time.
The retirement made headlines. Julia Gillard, then Australia’s prime minister, said on social media: “We’ve never seen anything like Black Caviar before and may never again.”'
