Then, that inevitably involves persuading a mix of people, some dedicated and some without better options, into signing up to do a thankless and periodically deadly task.

At the same time, you've also got the natural creepiness of isolated, opaque, authoritarian organisations. You need them, but they will always attract their share of crazies and deviants, and create a good number more.

So, there is a need for both support and distrust at the same time. It's just how it is with some things in life.

Looks like the Julian Knight comparison I made back in the day was far more apt than I knew. This guy might be the most prolific murderer we’ve produced in a generation.

On one hand your argument is that BRS didn’t follow proper procedure to ascertain the guilt of the Afghan person, but you’re more than happy to throw proper procedure out the window with the murder accusation against BRS to suit your narrative.

You can’t have it both ways.

Until there is a proper criminal trial, I won’t be jumping to accuse BRS as being a murderer.

Six years (including two years and three months non-parole) in prison for having the courage to do the right thing.

Meanwhile soldiers who murdered civilians in cold blood are free to go about their lives.

So much for justice.

The judge nailed it. Having a high level security level and breaching that trust because he thought he knew better, lucky he wasn't charged with Treason and locked up for life.

The judge is a right wing stooge who effectively declared that McBride had to be imprisoned for a lengthy period because he disobeyed orders to keep secret the war crimes committed by Australian military personnel.
This verdict comes at a time when the Albanese government is denouncing anti-genocide protesters as anti-Semitic, and is refusing to lift a finger to defend Julian Assange as the UK "justice" system prepares to hand him over to the US war criminals/psychopaths.
The albanese government, with the full support of the socalled 'oppposition" are working together on an agenda to suppress and intimidate all opposition to war. The persecution of courageous individuals such as Julian Assange and McBride are a warning of the threat to democratic rights that is developing rapidly within this country, and internationally.
Free Julian Assange!!

The Vetting Process to get your security clearance is pretty full on. Each level comes with increased scrutiny. The levels are baseline, Negative 1, and Negative 2; the old top secret is "Positive Vetting". It's made clear what happens if you breach the laws that have been in place for decades. He breached the rules and I feel he's got off lightly.

Further, don't be a whistleblower, none have ever been rewarded with anything.
